Abstract:
In a liquid-cooled electric machine, a rotor-cooling system is provided for avoiding thermal unbalance. This includes a number of cooling channels which run axially in the rotor and a distribution chamber for coolant arranged outside of the coil ends of the rotor winding, to which the cooling channels are connected by tubes. Each tube passes in a liquid-type way through two opposed walls of the distribution chamber and has at least one opening between the walls into the interior of the chamber. The opening is in the form of an elongated slot and its size may be varied by a pistonlike member which can be adjusted longitudinally of the tube to cover more or less of the opening.
Abstract:
A magnet coil for a particle accelerator is formed of a plurality of turns of a conductor each composed of two yokeshaped parts of conducting material containing a central metallic tube. The tube extends from each end of the parts. The parts are so positioned that the projecting tubes engage each other, where they are welded together. The inside tube is then tested. Conducting members are then placed around the tube in the gaps between the adjacent yoke-shaped parts and are welded to the conductor members. The whole unit is then embodied in insulation.
Abstract:
For measuring the clamping force prevailing in the windings of a transformer which has windings mechanically clamped between clacks arranged in two clack rings which support the windings at their ends, clacks are provided forming columns of clacks in the windings over which the clamping force is to be measured. One of the clacks arranged in the clack rings is in contact with one of the outer clacks of each of the columns. One of the clacks in the clack ring is provided with a channel which opens into the area of contact between it and the column clack and to the outside. Liquid under pressure is supplied to this passage, and, when there is balance between the added pressure medium and the pressure medium leaking out in the area, the pressure is determined and a clamping force is derived from the measured pressure with the help of a calibration curve.
Abstract:
In a pole system which has damping winding slots, a damping winding is positioned in the slots. This winding is formed of damping rods of electrically conducting material and cooling tubes arranged in the slots. The damping rods are connected outside the slots by short-circuiting rings. Each damping window slot contains at least one cooling tube and two adjacent part conductors. Each part conductor has a groove therein, and a cooling tube or tubes are arranged in the grooves. The part conductors are held in position and wedges inserted into the slots are locked in position.
Abstract:
A synchronous machine includes a rotor ring with salient rotor poles each having a shoe portion and a core portion, with a plurality of gaps between the poles. Liquid cooled field windings are arranged in the gaps surrounding each of the poles. The shoe portions of the rotor poles overlap the gaps by at most 20 percent of the width of the gaps. Within the gaps are T-shaped support members which are keyed into the rotor and which have legs extending between the windings and crosspieces on the outside of the windings.
