摘要: Various embodiments of the invention provide solutions to allow more sophisticated management of the relationship between a database and its clients (which can be, inter alia, end users, business applications, etc.). Merely by way of example, some embodiments can facilitate the management of work requests in a database, as well as the management of the quality-of-service in a database system. In some embodiments, an identification handle may be assigned to a database work request. A database management application can use the identification handle to identify the work request, as well, perhaps, as any related work requests. The identification handle may also identify the database (and/or an instance thereof) and/or a clustered database node, and the identification handle may be transmitted to a mid-tier application, e.g., to notify the mid-tier about the processing of the work request, changes in quality-of service, server availability, etc.

摘要: Various embodiments of the invention provide solutions to facilitate the management and/or automation of various database tasks, in particular system tasks. Merely by way of example, some embodiments provide methods systems and/or software products that can facilitate automation of such tasks. In accordance with certain embodiments, a maintenance window may be defined. The maintenance window can provide an opportunity for system tasks (and/or other tasks, especially those that consume significant database resources) to execute without significantly impacting the usability of the database. In particular embodiments, a maintenance window may be defined to coincide with a period of relatively low user activity. In some cases, a maintenance window may be implemented in conjunction with a job scheduler and/or a resource manager. Merely by way of example, a resource manager might allocate relatively more system and/or database resources to system tasks during the maintenance window, and/or a job scheduler may schedule system tasks to execute during the maintenance window.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for regulating body temperature. The system includes a housing that comprises compartments for a phase change material and a heat transfer material. The compartments are configured to transfer heat from the heat transfer material to the phase change material. A temperature sensor is used to determine when the phase change material has reached a pre-determined temperature. When the pre-determined temperature is reached, a release mechanism or lever is coupled to the temperature sensor to separate the phase change material compartment from the heat transfer material compartment or to remove the heat transfer material away from the phase change material compartment. The heated phase change material compartment can be used to regulate body temperature.

摘要: Techniques and devices for depolarizing light and producing a variable differential group delays in optical signals. In one implementation, an input optical beam is split into first and second beams with orthogonal polarizations. One or two optical reflectors are then used to cause the first and second optical beams to undergo different optical path lengths before they are recombined into a single output beam. An adjustment mechanism may used implemented to adjust the difference in the optical path lengths of the first and second beams to produce a variable DGD. When the depolarization of light is desired, the difference in the optical path lengths of the first and second beams is set to be greater than the coherence length of the input optical beam.

摘要: A method and program product for managing work products by utilizing a data model that provides traceability between business requirements and implemented services. The data model includes functional requirement, process element, business service, service design and service component asset types, and the relationships between the asset types. The asset types and the relationships provide a tracing between the functional requirement and the implemented service. In one embodiment, the tracing includes generating a series of displays in response to hyperlink selections. The series of displays include details of related instances of the functional requirement, process element, business service, service design, and service component asset types.
