In order to avoid the adhesion, and simultaneously retain the flexibility of the transfer cylinder, it is proposed that the transfer unit has at least one material application device for applying friction-reducing material onto the transfer cylinder and/or the carrier foil reverse side. Furthermore, a transfer foil is proposed, the carrier foil of which has a rear-side coating of friction-reducing material. The friction-reducing material may be a fluid or powder.

As a result, a line pressure in a transfer nip of a transfer unit of a cold-foil stamping device can be adjusted and increased to such an extent that a transfer layer is transferred with sharper edges from a transfer foil to a printing substrate. Structuring of the transfer layer due to the hard elements can be successfully avoided at the same time, if desired, by completely embedding the hard elements into the cover layer. A cold-foil stamping device including a transfer cylinder and a corresponding blanket, is also provided.

The foil and the printing material are guided together in an engagement area and a functional layer, such as glue or varnish, is dried, i.e. activated or polymerized, through the foil in the engagement area using a drier. The guide rollers are disengaged from the impression cylinder to avoid contact between the foil and grippers of the impression cylinder. To improve a detachment behavior of the foil from the functional layer, an angle of detachment between the foil and the sheet is varied by pivoting the guide rollers about an external geometrical pivot axis or an internal geometrical pivot axis, or at least assisting the disengagement of the foil from the impression cylinder by a change of a pneumatic condition of a foil-guiding element.

If such a film transfer unit includes an intermittent drive device having dancers then, as a result, access to an ink fountain or an inking unit is generally rather restricted. Adjustable guide elements of the intermittent drive device are provided in a frame of an intermittent drive module which can be pushed, in the form of a cassette, out of an opening of the film transfer unit when the film transfer unit is not to be used to transfer a transfer layer from a transfer film to a printing material, so that an installation space which has thus become free can be used to operate an ink fountain of the inking unit. A cassette for a film transfer apparatus and a method for operating a film transfer apparatus, are also provided.

At least one charging device for charging the dielectric layer of the web of transfer foil is provided in a transfer foil web region upstream of the wind-up reel, to charge the used web of transfer foil. The charging device substantially extends over the entire width of the web of transfer foil.

If the part film webs are stored as a plurality of part film webs on a common supply shaft, various problems can arise. Preferably a plurality of part film webs can be used in an apparatus for the transfer of a transfer layer to a sheet. Ideally, the supply shaft and/or collecting shaft is/are constructed as a friction shaft, so that the transfer of the rotational movement of the friction shaft to the transfer film supply roll and/or transfer film collecting roll is carried out via a frictional connection between shaft and roll, which can be overcome by tensile forces of the transfer film web. Therefore, a plurality of transfer film rolls having different diameters are provided on the friction shaft.

    摘要: A printing machine contains a transfer unit for transferring a transfer layer onto a print carrier in a transfer nip. The printing machine further has at least one applicator unit for applying an adhesive to the print carrier. The applicator unit precedes the transfer unit, and the transfer layer is detached from the carrier film in the transfer unit in the regions in which adhesive is applied. By printing units being converted into transfer units or applicator units, the functionality of the printing unit for a printing operation is lost. If the applicator device and the transfer device are located in this order on an impression cylinder of a printing unit, the applied adhesive is not predried sufficiently. To overcome these disadvantages, the transfer unit is a further processing unit and has at least one further processing device which follows the transfer nip and which acts on the print carrier.
