    摘要: An incendiary warhead comprises a destructible body carrying a plurality of stacked incendiaries. Each incendiary comprises a housing containing a compressed three-part icendiary filling. The filling comprises a flame substance for forming an intense flame, a thermit unit for forming a red-hot slag, and a combustion transfer substance which projects into both the flame substance and the thermit substance to be ignited by the former and ignite the latter. A tail unit is mounted at a top end of the housing to control the rate of descent of the incendiary. The tail comprises a hook, a pair of chains connected to the hook, and a vane connected to the free end of each chain. An anchor point extends from a bottom end of the housing and is in the shape of an arrowhead having barbed side edges.

    摘要: A contact head for a projectile which is capable of being fired from an electrically actuable launcher comprises a solid metal core formed on one side with a recess for constituting a propellent charge chamber in which are located a propellent charge and a primer capsule. The recess is closed by a base plate having breakage points for the egress of gases generated by ignition of the charge. The part of the core surrounding the recess is formed with first and second sets of bores spaced equiangularly about the axis of the core for receiving connecting screws for connecting the, contact head to a projectile and for receiving fixing screws for fixing the base plate to the core, respectively. An elastic protective member coaxially surrounds the head and is preferably subdivided into three rings, e.g. of rubber, which carry two metallic contact rings connected to the primer capsule by firing circuit wires. The use of a solid metal core as opposed to plastics members used in the prior art provides better control of the flight of the projectile and enables the contact head to withstand more rigorous conditions.

    摘要: A projectile is described which consists of a contact head and a screen material canister which may be made of aluminum, attached thereto by bolts and, optionally closed with a cover. Contact rings are arranged on an outer casing of the contact head and are connected via firing leads to a primer capsule which is located in the contact head in a centrally disposed box-shaped charge chamber having a substantially gas-tight screw cover at its base and substantially gas-tight ports for the firing leads, the ports being sealed with a sealing agent. A delayed action fuse assembly is arranged in the head section of the contact head or in the base of the screen material canister and connects the charge chamber and the canister, the assembly being in communication with the canister either through an igniter-destructor unit having a charge for igniting the screen material and fragmenting a casing of the canister, or through an expelling charge chamber containing an expelling charge for expulsion of the screen material at rupture of the cover on the head of the canister. The screw cover is formed at its edge with a screw thread and is formed at least in its central region with an abutment for a spacer of a cup discharger, the parts of the cover between the edge and the abutment being formed with weakened areas for the escape of propellent gases. The screen material may consist of thin combustible lamellae which may comprise a carrier material carrying a slow-burning combustion layer.

    摘要: A projectile is described which consists of a contact head and a screen material canister which may be made of aluminium, attached thereto by bolts and, optionally closed with a cover.     摘要: An incendiary projectile carries an incendiary charge and a control charge arrangement for igniting and disintegrating the incendiary charge. The control charge arrangement is ignited by the propellant charge which launches the projectile and then immediately ignites the incendiary charge and finally causes disintegration of the projectile. In one embodiment the control charge comprises a first charge, including a glow and delay composition, and a disintegrating charge which is ignited by the first charge. In another embodiment the control charge comprises a glow and delay composition which ignites and then heats the incendiary charge to produce disintegration of the projectile. A novel tubular housing for the control charge is provided to prevent premature disintegration and minimize atomation of the incendiary charge.

    摘要: There is disclosed a handgun intended for one-time use for launching a projectile. The gun is stored in a condition wherein a handle of the gun is folded to cover the trigger. A releasable locking member locks the handle in its folded position. In its folded position, the handle biases a pair of knobs inwardly to prevent actuation of the trigger, while a portion of the trigger engages the firing pin to prevent movement of the firing pin. In the stored condition of the handgun, the firing pin is uncocked and is unable to be moved into a cocked position. The locking member has a guide portion which is slidable within a bore containing the firing pin and its biasing spring. The guide portion acts as an abutment and a guide for the rear end of the spring. In one embodiment of the invention, the locking member is cammed inwardly by the handle as the handle is unfolded, to automatically cock the firing pin spring. In another embodiment of the invention, the spring is cocked during actuation of the trigger, with the firing pin being automatically released after a predetermined movement of the trigger. A separate safety member can be provided to secure the firing pin against cocking movement even when the handle is unfolded. This safety member can comprise a rotatable bolt which is held against rotation by the handle when the handle is in a folded position. Alternatively, this safety member can comprise a slide which is held by a leaf spring in its safety and released positions, and which can be cammed to its safety position by the handle if the handle is shifted from an unfolded to a folded position.
