摘要: A system includes: a packet processing function and a packet modification function. The packet processing function receives a packet generated by a sending application function and destined for a receiving application function. The packet includes first identifier information, and the packet processing function adds second identifier information thereto. The packet modification function: receives the packet; alters it in a way that prevents use of the first identifier information by a 3GPP conforming service data flow detection process to map the packet to a first service data flow for the sending application function; and provides the packet to a packet routing function with the second identifier information positioned in the packet to enable the packet routing function to use the second identifier information in the 3GPP conforming service data flow detection process to map the packet to the first service data flow and to a bearer for transporting the packet.

摘要: An abnormal termination of a dedicated bearer (e.g., a lost bearer) (134) or a change in bearer characteristics that renders the dedicated bearer unusable of a mobile device (114) can be detected. The lost bearer (128) is a bearer that is not a default bearer (132) within a communication network that includes one or more lost communication flows (135). At least one radio access network (RAN) capable of communicating with the mobile device (114) can be determined, where the at least one RAN is not one used for the dedicated bearer (134) that was abnormally terminated. At least one alternative bearer (150) can be detected or established at the at least one RAN. Each lost communication flow (138) can be automatically and dynamically routed to the at least one alternative bearer (150). The routing of the lost communication flows (138) can occur without interrupting communications.

摘要: A method for location based policy for UE operating in different areas of a shared home LTE system includes: responsive to detecting a trigger, determining a first enterprise operating area (EOA) in which the UE is currently located, wherein the first EOA is one of a plurality of EOAs of the LTE system; determining whether the first EOA is a home EOA or a visited EOA; when the first EOA is the home EOA, selecting a first set of policy rules for the UE; when the first EOA is the visited EOA, selecting a second set of policy rules for the UE that provides a lower Quality of Service (QoS) than the first set of policy rules; if a trust relationship exists, selecting a third set of policy rules for the UE while in the visited EOA, which provides a higher QoS than the second set of policy rules.

摘要: A Mutual Aid QoS Function (MAQF) performs a method for determining policy for user equipment (UE) providing mutual aid in a mutual aid enterprise operating area of a Long Term Evolution (LTE) system. The method includes: receiving an indication that a UE is assigned to provide mutual aid in a mutual aid enterprise operating area, wherein the UE has a home enterprise operating area that is different than the mutual aid enterprise operating area; detecting that the UE has entered the mutual aid enterprise operating area; selecting a set of mutual aid policy rules for the UE while the UE is providing mutual aid in the mutual aid enterprise operating area.

摘要: A method and apparatus distributes video packets over multiple bearers for providing unequal packet loss protection. The method includes a packet processing function receiving a plurality of packets collectively comprising a flow of sequential data included in a sequence of media frames. For each packet, the packet processing function: applies a bearer selection process to select one of a plurality of bearers for transporting the packet over an access network, wherein each bearer has a different quality of service level which influences the probability of the transported packets being intentionally discarded by the access network, wherein the bearer selection process causes distribution of the plurality of packets across the plurality of bearers such that each bearer carries non-consecutive packets both within any given media frame and across sequential media frames and provides unequal packet loss protection for the packets in the plurality; and provides an indication of the selected bearer.

摘要: A method of managing a Push-To-Talk over Cellular communication session includes establishing, with a first user equipment, a Session Initiation Protocol Push-To-Talk session that includes a Session Initiation Protocol Push-To-Talk server and at least one second user equipment. The method also includes designating, with the first user equipment, either the Session Initiation Protocol Push-To-Talk server or one of the at least one second user equipment, to act as an arbiter of a media stream. The method further includes transmitting, with the first user equipment, while engaged in the Session Initiation Protocol Push-To-Talk session, the media stream directly to at least one of the at least one second user equipment without receiving a transmit instruction from the Push-To-Talk server.

摘要: A method and apparatus for bandwidth brokering in a communication system (100) defines groups (212) and a bandwidth allocation for each group at a given base station (202). Each group has a guaranteed bandwidth (116). Each group may exceed its guaranteed bandwidth (118) by using additional bandwidth if there other groups are not using their full guaranteed bandwidth (408) or if there is community bandwidth available. A group's bandwidth usage may be pre-empted (412) when its bandwidth usage exceeds its guaranteed bandwidth and other groups require additional bandwidth within their guaranteed bandwidth.
