    摘要: An apparatus (1001), system (1000) and method (800-900) are provided for improving the de-encapsulation of sections from Multi Protocol Encapsulation (MPE) (151) and Multi Protocol Encapsulation-Forward Error Correction (MPE-FEC) (152) Sections in a DVB-H transport stream. DVB-H is a standard for broadcasting services to hand-helds. Its difference from DVB-T, C, and S that is relevant for this invention is the presence of an additional layer of Forward Error Correction (FEC). Instead of restoring only correctly received sections (151) (152) the present invention also restores fragments of sections (151) (152) by using both Transport Stream packet headers (301. i.1) and section headers (151.1). As a result, entire sections (800-900) may not be erased (which can amount to up to 4080 bytes) whenever one or more fragments are received incorrectly, but only the incorrectly received fragments (which can be each up to 184 bytes) are erased. This leads to a more efficient use of the additional layer of Forward Error Correction (FEC) information.

    摘要: In a transmission system for digital symbols, such as used for DVB, source symbols are encoded by a block coder (4), subjected to an interleaving operation in an interleaver and subsequently encoder in a channel encoder (8) according to one out of a plurality of possible channel codes. The output symbols of the channel encoder (8) are applied to transmit means (10). These output symbols are modulated on a carrier and applied to an antenna (12). An antenna (14) connected to a receiver (16) receives the signal transmitted by the antenna (12). Receive means (18) are arranged for amplifying and demodulating the signal received from the antenna (14). The output of the receive means (18) are applied to quantizing means (20) which convert its input signal into a quantized digital signal, before applying it to a Viterbi decoder 22. The complexity of the Viterbi decoder 22 depends on the number of quantization levels at the output of the quantization means (20). Consequently, this number of quantization levels should be not too high. On the other hand a too low number of quantization levels results in a degradation of the performance of the Viterbi detector (22). A suitable choice of the quantization levels depends also on the channel code used. According to the inventive concept of the present invention, the quantization levels are chosen in dependence on the channel code used. This channel code can be represented by the puncturing rate. In a preferred embodiment the quantization means are realized by a cascade connection of an analog to digital converter (34) and translation means (36). The translation means (36) converts the constant quantization levels at the output of the analog to digital converter (34) into quantization levels which depend on the working point of the channel code used.

    摘要: A lamp is provided that is controlled by messages transmitted via a network. The lamp has an internal memory that stores an address and an internal control circuit that responds to received messages that refer to this address. The address is updated when the lamp is installation in a power supply socket, using for example an address from the first message that is transmitted after installation. The lamp contains a detector that detects disconnection of the lamp from the power supply socket, for example by monitoring a resistance value between two parts of one of the power supply terminals of the lamp. In response to this detection the control circuit of the lamp sets information that enables an update of the address in the memory. When it is detected that the lamp is again connected to a power supply socket the address is updated on condition that the update is enabled.
