摘要: A device and a method for producing a batch of products having a multiplicity of interfolded, generally rectangular sheets including wet wipes, from a limited amount of a web material, at a high production speed and in efficiently used floor space. The method includes the steps of folding a first and second ribbons by a first and second folding devices, respectively; interfolding the ribbons to provide a first pair of ribbons; securing the first pair to a perimeter surface of a cyclical accumulator; accumulating the first pair onto the perimeter surface by providing a tangential velocity to the first pair; interfolding the first pair with a newly formed second pair of ribbons; rotating the perimeter surface of the cyclical accumulator to provide the tangential velocity to the second pair so as to superimpose the second pair onto the first pair of ribbons; displacing the cyclical accumulator linearly to accommodate the second pair in a machine direction; repeating the steps of rotating and linearly displacing the cyclical accumulator to form successive pairs of ribbons until a desired stack of ribbons is accumulated on the perimeter surface; and selectively cutting through the stack of ribbons.

摘要: The nonwoven web 10 of the present invention is a layered structure that takes advantage of the beneficial properties of different types of fibers advantageously distributed in each layer. In particular, the present invention is a multi-layer nonwoven web suitable for use as a wet wipe, the web having a first fibrous outer layer comprising from about 10% to about 60% conjugate fiber, from about 10% to about 90% cellulosic fibers, a fibrous inner layer bonded at discrete bond sites to the first outer layer in a face to face relationship comprising from about 10% to about 60% conjugate fiber, and from about 10% to about 65% cellulosic fibers. A second fibrous outer layer, which can be the same composition as the first outer layer, is bonded at discrete bond sites to the inner layer in a face to face relationship. A method for forming the web of the present invention is also disclosed.

摘要: A nonwoven wipe suitable for use as a pre-moistened baby wipe comprised of thermoplastic fibers having a predetermined nominal fiber length, the wipe being calendar-embossed with a pattern comprising a plurality of discrete icons, each of the icons having an equivalent icon diameter of at least about one half the nominal fiber length, and the plurality of icons being separated one from another by an equivalent unbonded area diameter of at least about one half the nominal fiber length. In a preferred embodiment the nonwoven web is spunlaced, with a fiber composition of between about 40%-60% viscose, and the remainder thermoplastic fiber. The wipes of the present invention combine superior softness with embossed designs for better aesthetic appeal.
