This composition comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane having at least two SiOH groups in its molecule, (B) an organopolysiloxane having at least two SiH groups in its molecule, (C) a platinum family metal catalyst, and (D) a hydroperoxide. By using the hydroperoxide as a catalyst-retarding agent in cure reaction of a dehydrogenation system in which hydrogen is a foaming agent, this composition has a long pot life and can be cured and foamed to produce a foamed cured product in the form of a sponge having uniform cells.

A hollow weave type air bag coated with the coating composition can be instantaneously inflated while the bag prevents the silicone rubber film from being peeled from the base fabric, eliminates inflating gas leakage, and retains an acceptable inflation time.

C. to form the silicone rubber compound, adding an organic peroxide or a platinum group metal catalyst to the compound, and crosslinking the compound. The silicone rubber exhibits a minimal difference in physical properties between primary vulcanization and secondary vulcanization.

The curable and foamable organopolysiloxane composition comprises three different organopolysiloxanes, of which (A) the first is an .alpha.,.omega.-divinyl dimethyl polysiloxane, (B) the second is an organopolysiloxane having, in a molecule, at least three silicon-bonded hydroxy groups and (C) the third is an organohydrogenpolysiloxane having, in a molecule, at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms, along with a platinum catalyst. The platinum-catalyzed curing and foaming reactions proceed in two ways of, one, the hydrosilation between the vinyl groups in (A) and the silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms in (C) and, the other, by the dehydrogenation between the silanol groups in (B) and the silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms in (C). The composition gives a cured and foamed silicone rubber body having excellent mechanical properties with a good cell structure by standing at room temperature or by heating up to 70.degree. C.

The room temperature-curable polymeric composition is prepared by admixing (a) a polyether terminated at both molecular chain ends each with a mercapto group with (b) a 3-methacryloxypropyl silane having at least two hydrolyzable groups, e.g. alkoxy groups, in a molecule and (c) a 1,1,3,3-tetramethyl guanidino-containing organosilicon compound. The component (b) first reacts with the mercapto group of the component (a) to introduce silicon-bonded hydrolyzable groups to the molecular chain ends of the polyether and the silicon-bonded hydrolyzable groups pertain to the crosslinking reaction with the atmospheric moisture. The composition has good storability and workability and is capable of giving a cured rubbery elastomer without the addition of a toxic lead compound as a curing catalyst which is indispensable in the conventional polyether-based room temperature-curable polymeric compositions.
