摘要: An object has a superhydrophic, self-cleaning, and icephobic coating includes a substrate and a layer disposed on the substrate, the layer resulting from coating with a formulation having an effective amount of microstructuring microparticles, liquid silane having one or more groups configured to graft to a microstructuring microparticle and at least another group that results in hydrophobicity. The microstructuring microparticles are dispersed in the liquid silane. Another effective amount of synthetic adhesive, selected from thermosetting adhesives, moisture curing adhesives or polymers that form a strong interaction with a surface, is in solution with a solvent. Upon curing, the layer has a contact angle greater than 90° and a sliding angle of less than 10° and, less than 5% of an area of the layer is removed in a Tape test.

摘要: A colored paint that imparts a superhydrophobic surface on an object is a suspension of hydrophobic particles in a polymeric binder and a plasticizer in a solvent or mixed solvent, wherein at least a portion of the hydrophobic particles are colored particles. Colored particles can be ultramarine, iron oxide, chromium oxide, or any other colored metal oxide. The hydrophobic particles can be metal oxide particles that are surface functionalized with a fluorinated alkyl silane or an alkyl silane. The binder is a mixture of PDVF and PMMA in a ratio of 3:1 to 10:1. The plasticizer is a mixture of triethyl phosphate and perfluoro(butyltetrahydrofuran) or other perfluorinated hydrocarbon. Surfaces coated using this paint display contact angles in excess of 150° and resist abrasion.

摘要: Composition comprising hollow spherical silica particles having outside particle walls and inside particle walls, wherein the particles have an average particle size of about 10 nm to about 500 nm and an average wall thickness of about 10 nm to about 50 nm; and wherein the particles are functionalized with at least one organic functional group on the outside particle wall, on the inside particle wall, or on both the outside and inside particle walls, wherein the organic functional group is in a reacted or unreacted form. The organic functional group can be epoxy. The particles can be mixed with polymer precursor or a polymer material such as epoxy to form a prepreg or a nanocomposite. Lightweight but strong materials can be formed. Low loadings of hollow particles can be used.

摘要: A cross-linked rubber prepared by cross-linking a nitrile rubber composition including: a carboxyl group-containing highly saturated nitrile rubber containing 5 to 60 wt % of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated nitrile monomer unit, and an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid ester monomer unit, and having an iodine value of 120 or less; a surface treated silicate; and a polyamine-based cross-linking agent wherein a content is 0.1 to 20 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of the carboxyl group-containing highly saturated nitrile rubber, wherein when the rubber is subjected to a compression stress relaxation test wherein it is maintained at 150° C. while being compressed by 25%, the time until which the compression stress comes to be 50% of the initial compression stress at the start of the test, the compression stress after 30 minutes from the start of the test, is 300 hours or more.

摘要: A sound insulation composition and a sound insulation sheet for a vehicle are provided. The sound insulation composition includes 50 to 300 parts by weight of EPDM rubber, 10 to 300 parts by weight of mica powers, 10 to 300 parts by weight of dolomite, 2 to 15 parts by weight of a vulcanized agent, 3 to 60 parts by weight of a compatilizer, 30 to 300 parts by weight of a fire retardant, 0.2 to 3 parts by weight of a cross-linking agent, 10 to 80 parts by weight of a plasticizer, and 100 to 500 parts by weight of barium sulfate. The sound insulation sheet for the vehicle is made of the sound insulation composition mentioned above.

摘要: Disclosed is modified silica tiller material wherein the silica filler material has been surface treated with both an alkyl silane and an alkenyl silane. The modified silica filler material when included in an elastomeric composition, results in lower compression set and improved mechanical properties including viscosity, tensile strength, modulus and elongation. The filler material can be used at high levels in elastomeric compositions and does not raise the viscosity to unusable levels. The elastomeric composition including the modified filler material finds special use in the formation of gaskets for fuel cells.
