摘要: A method for processing a plurality of input images containing variable content that is filled into respective, fixed templates. The method includes comparing the images to collect a group of the images having a high degree of similarity therebetween, and combining the images in the group so as to distinguish the variable content from a fixed portion common to a preponderant number of the images in the group. The fixed portion is processed to reconstruct the fixed template that is common to at least some of the images among the preponderant number, and information is extracted from the images using the reconstructed template.

摘要: In an image processing system for processing filled in forms, a method and system are disclosed for removing the fixed part or template of a form without altering the variable part or information filled into the form. Whenever the variable part overlaps a fixed part of a filled in form a straightforward removal of the template creates gaps in the information characters making them unrecognizable by Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Software. This problem is overcome, according to the invention, by scanning a filled in form using any appropriate optical device capable of capturing images made of gray level pixels. First the fixed template pixels and the variable information pixels are separated from each other based on pixel position. Thereafter, the fixed and variable part populations of pixels are further analyzed so that gaps can be filled by moving pixels from the fixed part to the variable part on the basis of their gray levels thus, permitting to filling the gaps.

摘要: Methods and systems are described for selectively invoking a positioning system for a mobile device. In some implementations, first and second signals are received from first and second non-position-based sensors, respectively, each representative of a context of the mobile device. A processor determines whether the mobile device is in motion based on at least one of the first and second signals; and in response to determining that the mobile device is in motion, a positioning system is invoked to receive a position measurement of the mobile device. The processor determines whether a user of the mobile device is likely in control of a vehicle; and in response to determining that the user is likely in control of a vehicle, the operation of the mobile device is restricted.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for selectively invoking a positioning system in mobile device control applications. A processor receives a measurement representative of wireless networks in an environment of a mobile device, and evaluates the first measurement using first criteria. In response to determining that the first measurement satisfies the first criteria, a positioning system is invoked to receive a position measurement of the mobile device, and the operation of the mobile device is controlled according to the position measurement. When the first measurement does not satisfy the first criteria, the processor invokes the positioning system at a later time.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for controlling a mobile device, in which a processor receives a first accelerometer signal representative of motion of the mobile device. The processor determines a variation in the first accelerometer signal, and sets an acceleration threshold based at least in part on the determined variation. When a second accelerometer signal exceeds the acceleration threshold, the processor measures a position of the mobile device using a positioning system, determines that a user of the mobile device is likely in control of a vehicle, and disables one or more mobile device features.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for consolidation and visualization of a dataset output from a mass spectrometer. The number of proteins identified in a mass spectrometry experiment may be systematically reduced by identifying and excluding proteins which may not be necessary to explain the observed peptides in a sample. Peptide counts from excluded proteins may be redistributed to non-excluded proteins to preserve total observed peptide counts. The consolidated dataset may be represented as a data structure having a plurality of cells arranged into rows and columns. Visual parameter values may be assigned to various cells in the data structure to emphasize particular features of the data. Data from multiple samples may be arranged in sets of columns in the data structure, and difference scores may be calculated to determine peptide expression differences between the multiples samples. The difference scores may be displayed using textual and/or graphical representations to facilitate data analysis.

摘要: Significantly higher yield and better resolution in pI gels are obtained by creating traps having two or more layers of gel containing closely stepped immobilized pH buffers. Proteins move from a pH at which they are negatively charged towards an anode at which they are positively charged. Discrete regions containing immobilized pH buffers trap the proteins when the immobilized buffer pH and the protein pI are approximately the same. The protein is trapped within the second layer and not on the surface of or interface of the second layer. Significantly higher yields with better resolution can be obtained through the use of layered sample application gels prior to isoelectric focusing. Layered plugs are prepared with a range of immobilized pH buffers ranging, for example, over 2 pH units, with steps of 0.05 or 0.1 pH units. An array of multilayered plugs wherein each plug has different pH increments is also provided. The array can be used to isolate and trap a variety of proteins having different isoelectric pHs during a single run. Another embodiment provides plugs having at least three layers; a gate layer, a trap layer, and an exit layer. Another embodiment includes adding a carrier ampholytes to running buffers and or adding thiol containing reducing agents to reduce current and improve resolution and collection efficiency.
