A sealant composition and methods for using the same are disclosed. In an embodiment, a method of servicing a wellbore in contact with a subterranean formation is disclosed. The method comprises placing a sealing agent and a nonaqueous carrier fluid in the wellbore. The method further comprises placing a nonaqueous activating fluid in the wellbore. In addition, the method comprises contacting the sealing agent with the nonaqueous activating fluid to form a sealant composition.

Methods of servicing a wellbore include generating gas in a plugging composition in situ within a permeable zone in the wellbore, thereby improving the ability of the plugging composition to seal the permeable zone. The gas may be generated via a chemical reaction by, for example, introducing first and second reactants to the plugging composition that can react at ambient temperatures in the wellbore. In an embodiment, the first and second reactants are concurrently pumped into the wellbore via separate flow paths within two concentric conduits to the permeable zone where they are allowed to contact each other in the presence of the plugging composition. In another embodiment, the first reactant, the second reactant, and a retarder for slowing the reaction between the two reactants are concurrently pumped to the permeable zone. In yet another embodiment, one of the reactants is encapsulated to delay a reaction between the two reactants.

A system and method to model and analyze the mixing energies of high-yielding non-Newtonian fluids to prevent chemical lost circulation is disclosed. Laboratory tests are performed under varying conditions from which data on the mixing energies needed to optimize the use of high-yielding non-Newtonian fluids to prevent lost circulation is obtained. This data is then applied to a non-linear mathematical modeling system that is capable of scaling the data to give a dimensionless value. This value can be combined with historic information to predict optimal flow rates and mixtures to prevent chemical lost circulation. This data may be verified by means of simulation, lab testing, or application to a full-size well.

A system and method to model and analyze the mixing energies of high-yielding non-Newtonian fluids to prevent chemical lost circulation is disclosed. Laboratory tests are preformed under varying conditions from which data on the mixing energies needed to optimize the use of high-yielding non-Newtonian fluids to prevent lost circulation is obtained. This data is then applied to a non-linear mathematical modeling system that is capable of scaling the data to give a dimensionless value. This value can be combined with historic information to predict optimal flow rates and mixtures to prevent chemical lost circulation.
