    摘要： Cementitious compositions and methods for producing the cementitious compositions are described herein. The methods can include mixing a compound of the general formula MaSibXcOd, MaSibXcOd(OH)e, MaSibXc(OH)e, or MaSibXc(OH)e.(H2O)f, wherein M comprises a metal that can react with carbon dioxide in a carbonation reaction to form a carbonate, Si forms an oxide during the carbonation reaction, X is an element other than M or Si, a, b, d, e, and f are greater than zero, and c is zero or greater, with a rapid setting hydraulic cement to produce a cementitious mixture. The methods can further include hydrating the cementitious mixture and carbonating the cementitious mixture. Carbonating the cementitious mixture can occur simultaneously with hydrating the cementitious mixture or subsequent to hydrating the cementitious mixture. In some embodiments, the non-hydraulic cement can comprise wollastonite. The hydraulic cement can be in an amount of from 5 wt % to 80 wt % of the cementitious composition.

The cementitious laminate composition includes a substrate, a primer layer applied to the substrate, the primer layer comprising a mixture of polyvinyl alcohol catalyst, Portland cement, and sand; and a cementitious veneer layer applied to the primer layer, the cementitious veneer layer comprising a mixture of magnesium sulfate, filler, magnesium oxide, gypsum cement or bassanite, cellulose ethers, and polyvinyl alcohol catalyst. The polyvinyl alcohol catalyst comprises a mixture of polyvinyl alcohol fibers dissolved in water and mixed with butylene carbonate. The veneer layer is applied to the substrate and primer layer by means including spraying and manual spreading, and can be ornamentally manipulated either before or after curing of the veneer layer. The veneer composition can be formed into laminated tiles or panels for use in building applications.

    摘要： A method of incorporating a material in a settable binder is disclosed. The binder includes a source of caustic magnesium oxide. The method involves mixing the material with the binder, either as part of a slurry or for subsequent formation into a slurry, and then adding a setting agent to the slurry. The setting agent is added to enhance setting of the binder. The material can be a hazardous waste material or components thereof. The inventors have surprisingly discovered that when the setting agent is added after mixing of the material with the binder, that a superior setting of the material in the binder can be achieved. The settable composition can comprise only a caustic magnesium oxide binder and a setting agent for the binder, as the inventors have surprisingly discovered that there is no need for any other binding agents, thus providing a simpler binder composition and method of use.
