Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for producing rigid polyurethane foam composite elements, including at least one outer layer and a rigid polyurethane foam layer, by mixing (a) polyisocyanates with (b) compounds having at least two hydrogen atoms reactive with isocyanate groups, (c) optionally flame retardant(s), (d) blowing agent, (e) catalyst, and (f) optionally auxiliaries and adjuvants to form a reaction mixture, applying the reaction mixture to the outer layer, and curing it to form the rigid polyurethane foam. The present disclosure further relates to a rigid polyurethane foam composite element obtainable by such a method.

Abstract: A process for producing an open-cell rigid polyurethane foam involves reacting at least the components of at least one polyisocyanate, a polyol composition, and a cell opening agent. The polyol composition contains at least 30% to 75% by weight of at least one polyether polyol (b-1) having a functionality in the range of 5.0 to 7.9 and containing monomeric units derived from monosaccharides, oligosaccharides, polysaccharides, and/or sugar alcohols; >0% to 69.5% by weight of at least one polyether polyol (b-2) having an OH number in the range of >0 to 250 mg KOH/g; and at least 0.5% by weight of water. The isocyanate index is below 160 and the concentrations in % by weight for (b-1), (b-2), and water are based on the total amount of the components of the polyol composition.

Abstract: The present invention relates to polyester polyols obtainable or obtained by esterification of 10 to 70 mol % of at least one compound from the group consisting of terephthalic acid (TPA), dimethyl terephthalate (DMT), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), phthalic anhydride (PA), phthalic acid and isophthalic acid, 0.1 to 30 mol % of one or more fatty acids and/or fatty acid derivatives, 10 to 70 mol % of one or more aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diols having 2 to 18 carbon atoms or alkoxylates thereof, 5 to 70 mol % of a polyether polyol prepared by alkoxylating an aromatic starter molecule having a functionality of not less than 2, and of 0 to 70 mol % of a tri- or polyol other than the polyether polyol, all based on the total amount of the components used, wherein the amounts used of the components add up to 100 mol %. The present invention further relates to a process for producing rigid polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams which comprises reacting an isocyanate component with a polyol component (PK) comprising a polyester polyol of the present invention and further components, to the polyol component as such and also to the rigid polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams obtainable or obtained by a process of the present invention. The present invention also relates to the method of using a polyester polyol (P1) of the present invention in the manufacture of rigid polyurethane foams or rigid polyisocyanurate foams.
