Abstract: A breath alcohol concentration detecting system includes an alcohol detector having a bridge circuit. Before testing a gas sample from a human subject, the system is cycled to provide a reference signal which is stored to indicate the imbalance initially present in the detector bridge circuit. The test is then run to provide an information signal which is compared with the stored reference signal and utilized in the production of an output signal which is some function of the difference between the information signal and the stored reference signal.

Abstract: A magnetic pickup senses rotation of the engine ring gear to provide a frequency-related signal which is translated into a speed-related voltage signal. This voltage signal passes a first speed level w1 at the commencement of a predetermined time period Delta t, established by a multivibrator circuit. At the end of the time period Delta t a second speed level signal w2 is provided. The engine horsepower is then determined by the expression WHERE J represents the motor inertia and k is a constant, to provide a value indicative of the engine acceleration horsepower.

Abstract: A molten metal continuous casting mold level control system is disclosed employing an inductance detector positioned within a water cooled continuous casting mold. The detector is mounted in the jacket of the mold about the generally hollow cylindrical mold core which core includes an electrically conductive form having a billet shaping surface. The output voltage from the detector is bucked against a signal that is related to an input signal, filtered and amplified to derive a signal whose polarity from a reference level and magnitude are proportionate to the direction and magnitude of change in the steel level. This signal is used to control the billet drive to correct changes from the desired level.
