Abstract: An endoscopic system may include an endoscope including a handle and an elongate shaft extending distally therefrom. The handle may include a non-motorized and non-ratcheting actuation mechanism configured to articulate a distal tip portion of the elongate shaft. The distal tip portion may be articulatable in response to a manually applied force exerted upon the actuation mechanism. Removal of the manually applied force may lock the distal tip portion in its then-current configuration. The non-motorized and non-ratcheting actuation mechanism may include a clutch mechanism actuatable in response to an electrical signal generated in response to sensing a user-applied force to the actuating mechanism by a strain gauge.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to a flexible elongate member (e.g., endoscopic accessory tool) positionable into and/or through selected anatomies, such as by generating images to position components of a flexible elongate member or to localize anatomic features, for instance. Some embodiments are directed to generating images with a plurality of imaging techniques to localize anatomic features and/or components of a flexible elongate member for one or more of inspection, orientation, and/or facilitating access to body passageways or lumens.

Abstract: Various embodiments are generally directed to positioning techniques to facilitate entry of a flexible elongate member (e.g., endoscopic accessory tool) into and/or through selected anatomies, such as by directing a set of positional controls based on feedback from a set of transducers to achieve or maintain a position within a body lumen, for instance. Some embodiments are particularly directed to a feedback loop for positioning or guiding a flexible elongate member into a target configuration for one or more of inspection, orientation, and/or facilitating access to body passageways. In one embodiment, for example, a device manager may include circuitry to operate at least one positional control in a set of positional controls based on data indicative of a current configuration of a flexible elongate member generated by a set of transducers.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to systems and methods for thawing cells using magnetic particles, such as Curie-magnetic or Néel-magnetic particles. In an embodiment, a cell storage medium for cryopreservation is included. The cell storage medium can include a cryoprotective agent; and a plurality of particles comprising a magnetic material. In an embodiment, a method for thawing a frozen cell sample is included. The method can include obtaining a frozen cell sample comprising particles, the particles comprising a magnetic material and applying an alternating electromagnetic field to the frozen cell sample to induce heating of the magnetic material. Other embodiments are also included herein.

Abstract: A medical device may comprise a distal tip having a viewing element, a lighting element, and at least one feature configured to removably couple the distal tip to a shaft. The medical device may also comprise a working channel coupled to the distal tip and defining a central lumen configured to receive a tool. A wall of the working channel may define at least one additional lumen. The working channel may be configured to be removably inserted into the shaft. The medical device may also comprise at least one of a wire, a cable, or a conduit passing through the at least one additional lumen.
