摘要: A submersible well pump assembly has a pump housing with a pump discharge on upper end. A pump barrel is located within the pump housing, defining an annular passage between the barrel and the pump housing. A plunger is reciprocally carried in the barrel. A motor mounted below the pump housing and operatively couples to the plunger causes the plunger to reciprocate between an upstroke and a down-stroke. A valve and porting arrangement directs well fluid in the barrel below the plunger into the annular passage and out the discharge during a down stroke of the plunger. The valve and porting arrangement admits well fluid into the barrel below the plunger during the up stroke of the plunger. A connecting rod extends between the motor and the plunger. The connecting rod is in tension during the down-stroke.

摘要: A sensor for detecting well conditions includes at least one transducer positioned at an end of the carrier. The carrier is positioned adjacent to and exposed to a wellbore wall and the transducer is configured to generate mechanical waves in the carrier. The carrier conveys the mechanical waves and has one or more sections initially free of a physical deformation that causes reflection of the mechanical waves. The sections physically deform to cause reflected mechanical waves when subjected to a loading from the formation. The transducer generates a signal representative of reflected mechanical waves received at the end of the carrier. The location of the loading is estimated using the received signal.

摘要: A sealing element is flanked by wedge-shaped extrusion ring assemblies. The extrusion rings are continuous for 360 degrees and are slotted from the outside dimension and alternatively from the inside dimension to allow the diameter to increase to the surround tubular or open hole. The extrusion rings climb a ramp on an adjacent pedestal ring on the way out to the borehole wall. Depending on the dimension of the gap to be spanned the extrusion ring slides a variable distance up the pedestal ring ramp. An optional anchor ring is initially forced up an opposite ramp of the pedestal ring. If the sealing gap is short the anchor ring can be eliminated. For larger gaps the anchor ring moves out far enough toward the borehole wall to contact the extrusion ring located on an opposing ramp of the pedestal ring so that reaction forces are directed to keep the anchor ring wedged in position for support of the extrusion ring assembly.

摘要: A system and method to isolate a portion of a wellbore and to detect fluid production from the wellbore. The system includes first and second isolators connected to a tubing string. The isolators include memory shape elements positioned between sealing elements and mandrels that may be actuated from a first shape to a second shape to create a seal within the wellbore with the sealing elements. The system may include a sensor configured to detect production from the wellbore. A sensor may be configured to detect a pressure of the isolated portion of the wellbore. A port between the isolators may permit fluid communication to the portion of the wellbore isolated by the sealing elements. The memory shape elements may be actuated from the first shape to the second shape at a first temperature and may actuated back to the second shape at a second temperature

摘要: Systems and methods for the construction of components such as laminations for the stator core of an ESP motor wherein particles of different materials are mixed and pressed together at an elevated temperature to form a composite material in the desired lamination shape. The materials are selected to provide characteristics such as high magnetic permeability from one material and high thermal conductivity from the other material. The particles of the different materials are pressed together at a temperature that is sufficiently high to fuse the particles together and form a composite material, but is also sufficiently low that the materials are not sintered. The individual materials therefore retain their original characteristics, and the composite material benefits from the high magnetic permeability of the first material and the high thermal conductivity of the other material.
