摘要: An improved long wavelength-band EDFA (L-band EDFA) is disclosed. The EDFA includes an input terminal for receiving signal light, a pumping unit for pumping a 1,530 nm wavelength band pumping light, a WDM coupler for multiplexing the signal light and the pumping light, and an EDF pumped by a 1,530 nm wavelength band pumping light for amplifying the signal light. Compared with conventional 1,480 nm pumping, the EDFA pumped by 1,530 nm band pumping have about two times higher power conversion efficiency.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for revising a wavelength of the EML by controlling a working temperature based on arithmetic functional relations between the DC-Offset voltage and the wavelength and between the working temperature and the wavelength, and a computer-readable recording medium thereof. The method includes the steps of: re-setting initial values of a working temperature, a amplifying voltage and the DC-Offset voltage; determining a wavelength with respect to the re-set DC-Offset voltage based on a functional relation between the DC-Offset voltage and the wavelength of the EML; and determining the revising working temperature for the determined wavelength based on the functional relation between the working temperature and the wavelength of the EML, and re-setting the working temperature with the revising working temperature.

摘要: A method for realizing, in a fiber amplifier with three stages of amplifiers, automatic gain control in which a constant gain is obtained when channels are varied, and automatic level control in which a constant output per channel is obtained when a light power is varied because of variations in span loss. A light power or another light power of a specific wavelength is monitored to determine when variations in these light powers take place, current values of pump laser diodes appropriate for an input is read from a lookup table, and pump laser diodes are driven. During this operation, a pump power of the first stage amplifier is constantly maintained, and those of the second or third stage amplifier are controlled.

摘要: Provided are an optical signal receiving apparatus whose optimum receiving performance is maintained regardless of a change in the power of an optical signal, and a method using the same. The apparatus includes an optical coupler for dividing an input optical signal at a predetermined ratio to produce first and second divided signals, a photoelectric converter for converting the first divided signal into an electric signal, an amplifier for amplifying the electric signal within a predetermined range centering on a reference voltage, a reference voltage controlling unit for detecting the power of the second divided signal, predicting the power of the first divided signal, and controlling the amplitude of the reference voltage in accordance with the predicted power, and a clock & data recovery unit for recovering a clock signal and data from a signal output from the amplifier. Even if the power of an optical signal changes, the reference voltage of a limiting amplifier, which is best suitable for optimum performance with respect to the power of an input optical signal, can be detected and adjusted using the method and apparatus, thereby maintaining the optimum receiving performance of the optical signal receiving apparatus.

摘要: A device for compensating for PMD occurring in a transmission optical fiber in an optical transmission system. An output beam from an optical fiber link changes its polarization state by a polarization controller (PC) to be applied to a PBS. A first polarization component passes through a variable delay line, rotates by a predetermined angle, and is inputted to the PBS. A portion of a second polarization component is transmitted by a predetermined mirror. The reflected second polarization component is applied to the PBS to be combined with the first polarization component inputted to the PBS. The transmitted second polarization component passes through a photo-detector and a BPF. The filtered signal is inputted to a PC controller to select the smaller value among the currently and previously measured power values.
