摘要: Techniques are disclosed for automatically testing for incorrect or incomplete implementation of documented behavior of a device. By way of example, an automated method for checking that one or more devices comply with one or more documented behaviors comprises a computer system performing the following steps. A set of compliance rules is defined for a behavior of at least one of the one or more devices. A set of monitored data is retrieved from the at least one device. The set of monitored data is compared with the set of compliance rules. A result of the comparison is reported.

摘要: The present invention provides a method and system for disseminating urgent public announcements over an IP-based network. One or a plurality of Internet- or Intranet-connected servers receive and store data identifying particular geographic locations to current announcements. The servers identify IP addresses of users making URL requests or requests for target applications (an access point by which a network-connectable mobile device is connected to an Internet- or Intranet-connected server), determine a location for each user from the user's IP address (or access point), and determine whether an IP address (or access point) of a user corresponds to a location for which an announcement has been posted. If the user is identified to a location for which a current announcement is available, the announcement is displayed to the user. The announcement may be displayed by redirecting the user to a web page containing the announcement. Alternatively, the announcement may be displayed in a pop-up window or in a banner on a web page requested by said user. A banner displaying such an announcement may incorporate a link to permit the user to click through to a web page containing a more detailed version of the announcement.

摘要: A policy enabled caching system based upon policy rules which define whether a request from a client is directed to a cache or a server. The client is coupled to a plurality of caches and to at least one server. The caches may store a subset of the data stored on the server. The policy enabled caching system stores policy rules which comprise at least one matching condition, where every request containing a matching condition falls into an associated class. Each class will have an associated routing rule, where a routing rule defines the type of routing for all the requests which fall into that class. The policy enabled caching system will receive the request from the client and classify the request according to the policy rules. The request is then routed according to the routing rule associated with the class to which the request belongs.

摘要: The invention describes a scheme by which the dynamic characteristics of virtual links provided to a first network protocol engine are fed back to a second network protocol engine, and used to improve the performance of the second protocol traffic across a backbone. As an example, the invention describes a scheme by which the dynamic characteristics of the virtual links provided to the HPR network are fed back to the RTP protocol, and used to improve the performance of RTP traffic across the IP backbone. The invention provides this feedback using the mechanisms provided by the HPR networking architecture, and thus can inter-operate with HPR networks that do not support this invention. In one embodiment of the present invention, on the link characteristics are determined by programs running on both end of the IP network. These link characteristics are sent to the HPR end-node when an HPR connection is established. The HPR end-node obtains the information during the connection establishment phase. During the initiation of a connection, the HPR connection establishment protocols send out route-setup messages along the desired path of the connection. When the message is received by the node along the path, it is required to send its fixed bandwidth and delay in the route-setup control vector, a component of the set-up message. This value is dynamically changed so as to reflect the current state of the network. Three methods to obtain the current link characteristics of the multi-hop IP network are described.

摘要: A method of reconfiguring a multipoint communications channel to reconnect selected nodes after failures occur in the network disclosed. The method for this invention requires that a selected node (leader) participating in the multipoint communication channel act as the coordinator of the re-establishment protocol. The coordinator (leader) monitors the state of network topology to determine failures, recomputes an alternative feasible communication channel path in the case of failure, and generates messages to join new network elements in the multipoint communication channel. By using a novel tree recomputation method that rejoins the disconnected subtrees created by the network failure to the tree containing the coordinator, along with network topology information, the coordinator is able to minimize messaging and preserve the original channel to the maximum possible extent. The invention can be practiced in a network which provides quality-of-service characteristics to multipoint connections, by ensuring that the recomputation of the multipoint communication channel preserves the quality-of-service of the original connection.
