摘要: A method for charging an external device and a display using the method are provided. The method includes, determining whether the external device is chargeable and connected to the display through a connector when the displaying apparatus is in a standby mode; and if it is determined that the external device is chargeable and connected, charging the external device through the connector in the standby mode. The display includes a power supply that supplies standby power or main power; a checker which determines, in a standby mode, whether an external device is connected and chargeable; and a controller. The controller controls the power supply to output standby power while the checker determines whether the external device is connected and is a chargeable device, and if the external device is connected and chargeable, controls the power supply to output main power to charge the external device.

摘要: A SQRT calculator capable of calculation with a minimal error is provided. The integer calculation unit selects a largest integer from a set of integers with a square of each of the integers smaller than an input datum. The transformation unit transforms the selected integer from the integer calculation unit by multiplying it by 2 and shifts a decimal point of the resulting number to the right by 1 place, thereby adding a certain number less than 10 to the decimal point shifted number to calculate a transformation value. The calculation unit shifts a decimal point of the number less than 10 to the left by 2 places and multiplies the transformation value by the resulting value, thereby subtracting the multiplied value from the input datum and choosing a largest number less than 10 with the subtracted value being in a desired range as a second decimal number of the square root. Thus, the SQRT calculator is capable of calculation with minimal error and, furthermore, has a minimum size of hardware.

摘要: An apparatus and method for detecting an operation value using a look-up table at high speed, which not only minimizes the size of the look-up table but also satisfies a desired error rate. The apparatus includes a means for storing seed values corresponding to seed points determined according to the range of the input data and output data and an error rate, an address and data generator for comparing a predetermined reference value with the input data to generate an address of the storing means and revised input data corresponding to the input data, and an operator for performing a predetermined operation using the seed values output from the storing means and the revised input data generated by the address and data generator to output an operation value corresponding to the input data. Accordingly, an operation value having a minimum error rate can be provided with a small sized memory.

摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for driving an image display device by converting digital image data per pixel into an analog signal and driving a liquid crystal cell in response to the analog pixel signal, using a voltage charged with a driving circuit with a dual buffer structure. According to the apparatus, digital image data per pixel is converted into an analog signal to generate a voltage for driving an image display device, and an analog voltage for driving the image display device is generated using a driving circuit with a dual buffer structure. With the apparatus, it is possible to effectively prevent generation of undesired noise and display R.G.B. image signals using a single panel.

摘要: A method and apparatus for removing false contours in a pulse number modulation (PNM) digital display device having a plasma display panel (PDP). The method involves a) comparing the input data with the comparison data and calculating a plurality of possible output data in consideration of an index error between the input data and error-diffused input data so that the false contours can be removed, the error-diffused input data being obtained by diffusing a quantization error that has occurred in pixels adjacent to the input data in the current frame; b) detecting an index error between the input data and the error-diffused input data; and c) selecting one from among the plurality of possible output data obtained in step a) in consideration of the index error detected in step b).

摘要: A color temperature conversion system and a method thereof are capable of converting the color temperature to the color temperature almost identical with the color temperature obtained by the Robertson algorithm. The color temperature conversion system has an XYZ conversion unit for converting an RGB signal of input video data into an XYZ value in a CIE coordinate system, a chroma calculating unit for calculating X and Y coordinate values of a pixel corresponding to the converted XYZ value, an offset compensate unit for compensating the X coordinate value calculated by the chroma calculating unit based on an X coordinate value difference and a Y coordinate value difference of a color temperature on a white point line of the CIE coordinate system and an actual color temperature of the video data, in the case the color temperature is calculated based on the calculated X coordinate value, a color temperature calculating unit for calculating the color temperature of the video data that is inputted based on the compensated X coordinate value, and a color temperature conversion unit for converting the color temperature calculated by the color temperature calculating unit into a predetermined color temperature and outputting the converted predetermined color temperature.
