    Abstract: Disclosed are various aspects of a point-of-sale system, such aspects may include a computing device encased in a weather resistant shell and electronically connected to peripheral components through a controller board. The controller board may be located in a first void region of the weather resistant shell to allow protection of the electrical components from the elements. A point-of-sale system may include a power supply, wherein the power supply is in electrical connection with the controller board and in a second void region of the weather resistant shell. A point-of-sale system may include a payment device, having an EMV chip card reader, a magnetic stripe card reader, a near field communication (“NFC”) reader, wherein the payment device is in electrical communication with the controller board and in a third void region of the weather resistant shell. A point-of-sale system may also include a wireless radio module in electrical communication with the controller board and in a fourth void region of the weather resistant shell.

    Abstract: A transaction card is provided for communicating with a computing device. The transaction card may comprise a computer interface device, at least one memory, at least one processor, and a card reader module. The card reader module configured to receive, from the computing device through the computer interface device, a first data packet comprising a request associated with a transaction, the first data packet being compatible with an interface protocol. The card reader module may process the first data packet to generate a second data packet compatible with the payment authentication protocol; provide the second data packet to the processor; receive, from the processor, a third data packet comprising a response to the request; process the third data packet to generate a fourth data packet based on the response, the fourth data packet compatible with the interface protocol; and transmit, to the computer interface device, the fourth data packet.

    Abstract: A universal serial bus (USB) control device and a control method thereof are provided. The USB control device includes multiple host interfaces, multiple USB ports, a bus physical layer circuit, a microprocessor, and a bus schedule controller. The bus schedule controller controls the bus physical layer circuit according to a USB task. The microprocessor obtains a USB task command through the host interface, which includes a USB port number of a specific host interface. The microprocessor queries the USB port number of the specific host interface based on an index lookup table to correspond to a specific USB port, generates the USB task according to the specific USB port, and transmits the USB task to the bus schedule controller. The index lookup table is configured to record a relationship between a part of the USB port that each host interface is responsible for and the USB port number.

    Abstract: An apparatus comprises at least one processing device configured to obtain information characterizing a status of one or more batteries of a computing device. The processing device is also configured to determine whether at least one connector port of the computing device is connected to one or more external devices, the at least one connector port being configured to receive power from the connected external devices for charging the one or more batteries of the computing device. The processing device is further configured, responsive to determining that the at least one connector port of the computing device is connected to the one or more external devices, to selectively enable the charging of the one or more batteries of the computing device utilizing power received from the connected external devices based at least in part on the information characterizing the status of the one or more batteries of the computing device.

    Abstract: A universal serial bus (USB) server includes USB connectors. Each USB connector is configured to interface via USB to an endpoint server. The server includes a terminal manager configured to issue a command to a first endpoint server via a selected one of the USB connectors. The selected USB connector is associated with and connected to the first endpoint server. The terminal manager is further configured to determine whether a response has been received to the command, and, based on a determination that no response has been received to the command, attempt to power up the first endpoint server through the selected one of USB connectors.
