    Abstract: An in-ear earphone includes a body shaped to fit in the wearer's ear, a nozzle extending from the body towards the ear canal of the wearer's ear, the nozzle including an acoustic passage to conduct sound waves to the ear canal of the wearer, an ear canal sealing structure extending from the nozzle, and a sensor coupled to the nozzle. The sealing structure includes a thin sheet of material forming a hollow shape surrounding the nozzle and sensor, and the body, nozzle, sealing structure, and sensor are arranged such that when the earphone is located in the wearer's ear, the sensor faces the tragus of the ear, and the sealing structure simultaneously forms an acoustic seal to the entrance to the ear canal and provides optical coupling between the sensor and the tragus with minimal air gaps between the sensor, the sealing structure, and the tragus.

    Abstract: A strain relief and cable retention assembly for retaining a cable to a casing includes an anchor made of a flexible material. An internal bore along an axis of the anchor is sized to fit an outer jacket of the cable. Tabs extend away from the bore along axes perpendicular to the axis of the bore. A plate made of a stiff material extends along the tabs of the anchor. A section of the anchor passes through the plate such that the plate rests flat against the tabs between the tabs and a face of a casing. Reinforcing fibers from the cable are tied around the plate and the tabs, distributing stress from the cable to the plate and casing.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide an intentional leak from a rear volume of an ear cup to the atmosphere. The leak is created via a vent in the driver plate acoustic assembly. The vent reduces an acoustic load the ear cup cover creates on a rear cavity of an electroacoustic transducer contained within the driver plate acoustic assembly of a headset. Additionally, the vent is hidden on an assembled ear cup of a headset. Due to the placement of the vent, ear cup cover may have a smooth, seamless surface.
