Abstract: An electroporation catheter for ablation of cardiac tissue is disclosed. The electroporation catheter includes an elongated, shaft having a distal region and a deflection plane. The elongated shaft defines an axis. An electrode assembly is operably coupled to the distal region and configured to generate an electric field. The electrode assembly includes splines each supporting an ablation electrode. The splines are transitionable between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration. A deflector in the distal region is actuatable in the expanded configuration to deflect the electrode assembly off the axis toward a deflection direction in the deflection plane. In the expanded configuration, a first set of splines are proximate the deflection direction and a second set of splines are distal the deflection direction. An insulator is disposed on the second set of splines so as to insulate at least a portion of each associated ablation electrode.

Abstract: A percutaneous vascular access assembly for use with a radiofrequency (RF) energy source is disclosed. The percutaneous vascular access assembly includes an RF perforation instrument to be coupled to the RF energy source. The RF perforation instrument has an elongate shaft defining a longitudinally extending lumen and an instrument distal tip having an instrument electrode to deliver the RF energy. A puncture member is to be disposed within the lumen and extendable from the instrument distal tip. The puncture member is to be coupled to the RF energy source. The puncture member includes a puncture member distal tip having a puncture member electrode to deliver the RF energy.

Abstract: Embodiments herein include methods for enhancing post-ischemic functional recovery through administration of mitochondria and related devices and methods. In an embodiment, a method for enhancing post-ischemic functional recovery is included. The method can include harvesting somatic cells from a patient or a donor, converting the somatic cells into induced pluripotent stem cells, extracting mitochondria from the induced pluripotent stem cells, and transplanting the mitochondria into the patient. Other embodiments are also included herein.

Abstract: In one aspect, the present disclosure is directed to a method for identifying a site with a patient for treatment. The method may include engaging a plurality electrodes with an interior wall of the patient at a plurality of locations. The method may also generating a virtual map of a plurality of electrodes, wherein each of the plurality of electrodes is displayed with a first indicia. The method may also include displaying each of the plurality of electrodes engaged with the interior wall with a second indicia, measuring electrical activity, identifying at least one site for treatment based on the measured resulting electrical activity, and displaying each of the plurality of electrodes identified for treatment with a third indicia.

Abstract: An electroporation ablation system for treating targeted tissue in a patient. The electroporation ablation system including an ablation catheter and an electroporation generator. The ablation catheter including a handle, a shaft having a distal end, and catheter electrodes situated at the distal end of the shaft and spatially arranged to generate electric fields in the targeted tissue in response to electrical pulses. The electroporation generator operatively coupled to the catheter electrodes and configured to deliver the electrical pulses in an irreversible electroporation pulse sequence that includes a preconditioning pulse sequence and an electroporation pulse sequence to one or more catheter electrodes. Wherein the preconditioning pulse sequence includes preconditioning electrical pulses configured to cause electrolysis near the targeted tissue and tetanizing skeletal muscle stimulation in the patient.

Abstract: A system to generate an electroanatomical map of patient's heart is disclosed. The system includes a catheter including an electrode to detect physiological signals from within the patient's heart and a location sensor to generate location signals representative of a location of the catheter within the patient's heart, a display device, and a controller. The controller determines a catheter context characteristic based on the location signals, collects the physiological signals according to a collection parameter. The collection parameter is based on the determined catheter context characteristic. The controller further collects anatomical location signals corresponding to a measurement location associated with each of the physiological signals and generates, on the display device, a three-dimensional representation of the patient's heart based on the physiological signals and the anatomical location signals.

Abstract: A catheter for ablating tissue through irreversible electroporation is disclosed. The catheter includes an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end. The catheter also includes a first electrode spaced proximally from a second electrode along the elongated body, each of the first and second electrodes having a transition region terminating in an opposing edge. The catheter further includes an insulator disposed over the electrode in the transition region and extending between the first and second electrodes. In the transition region, an electrode thickness of each electrode decreases toward the opposing edge and an insulator thickness of the insulator correspondingly increases so as to maintain a generally constant combined thickness.
