    摘要： The present invention a method by which the sender of an instant message can designate an alternate recipient of the message in the event the initial recipient does not respond to the message within a predetermined time period. The sender can create a list of one or more alternate recipients for a message. The sender can also specify a response time for the message. If the initial recipient does not response to the message within the defined time period, the message will be sent to a designated alternate recipient. In this invention, there can be multiple alternate recipients. Each alternate can receive the message or there can be a priority among the alternate recipients.

    摘要： The present invention provides a method, apparatus, and computer instructions for automatic e-mail response interruption based on user activity. An e-mail message having an “interrupt” type designation is sent from an originator, and directed to one or more recipients. The receiving e-mail client filters incoming messages and determines whether an e-mail contains an interrupt designation. If an interrupt designation is found, the e-mail client automatically displays content of the interrupt e-mail and any pending actions required of the recipient in a forefront position in the user interface, such as through a popup window. This content display may be valid until the recipient has responded to or completes the pending action specified in the e-mail. The present invention also analyzes the sender-recipient relationship to determine if the sender has the authority to issue an interrupt e-mail to the particular recipient. This authority may be predicated on user settings or an external list, such as a corporate directory.

    摘要： A method is presented for employing radio frequency (RF) identifier (ID) transponder tags (RFID tags) to create a unique identifier, termed an RFID signature, for use within a data processing system with respect to a person or an object. An interrogation signal is transmitted toward a person or an object with which a set of one or more RFID tags are physically associated. A first set of RFID tag identifiers are obtained from an interrogation response signal or signals returned from the set of one or more RFID tags. A mathematical operation is performed on the first set of RFID tag identifiers to generate an RFID signature value, which is employed as an identifier for the person or the object within the data processing system with respect to a transaction that is performed by the data processing system on behalf of the person or the object.

An interface is provided for a user to select members of a reviewing group of users. Input is collected from each member of the reviewing group of users as to whether a particular email message is an unwanted email message. A filter is constructed from a collective input of the reviewing group of users for a user. The filter contains input from a set of users of the reviewing group of users, wherein the set of users is selected by the user. Incoming email messages are filtered using the filter. A selected email message identified by one member in the reviewing group of users is unforwarded to the user.

In addition, a system and method is provided for selecting the home page based upon the network to which the user is connected. In one embodiment, the home page data is stored on nonvolatile storage accessible from the client's computer system and retrieved from such nonvolatile storage. In another embodiment, each of the client's computer systems has a home page identifier directed to a home page redirector web site. The home page redirector web site receives identification data from the client. The home page redirector retrieves home page web data corresponding to the client's preferences from its nonvolatile storage area, and redirects the client computer system to a different home page address based upon the time of day and/or client network connection data.
