    摘要: A sampling cylinder for LNG (liquefied natural gas) is provided. The sampling cylinder includes a piston cylinder arrangement having opposite end members closing the chamber inside the cylinder. Various porting arrangements are provided for allowing fluid to be fed into a chamber inside the cylinder on opposite sides of a piston. A sample chamber is provided at one end member of the cylinder. The end member containing the sample chamber is also provided with a heat exchanger that may be connected to a source of coolant and preferably the LNG to be sampled to effect cooling of the end member at least partially prior to the sample chamber having a sample of LNG injected thereinto.

    摘要: A sight glass with a flow directing assembly is used to detect the presence of entrained liquids in natural gas during spot sampling procedures. The flow directing assembly directs at least a portion of the gas flow to impinge upon a first transparent window and swirl around in a chamber of the sight glass which may cause droplets of liquid to form on the inside of the window and may cause a fog to form inside the chamber, all of which make it easier to see the existence of liquids in the natural gas. At least one embodiment of this sight glass also acts as a fluid separator, collecting the liquids in the chamber which may then be periodically drained.

    摘要: A probe structure for inserting into and operating upon an object within a pipeline, especially a high pressure pipeline carrying liquid or gas, is characterized by two coaxial cylinders that can be either pneumatically or hydraulically actuated. A primary cylinder is adapted to be mounted onto a pipeline tee and/or valve, and includes a movable primary piston to which is fixedly attached a primary lower hollow shaft that moves with the primary piston and preferably a primary upper hollow shaft that also moves with the primary piston. The primary lower hollow shaft is adapted to selectively extend into the pipeline while the primary upper hollow shaft extends above the primary cylinder and is fixed to a secondary cylinder, such that the secondary cylinder moves with the primary piston. The secondary piston includes a secondary piston that moves independently of the first and second cylinders. A secondary hollow shaft is fixedly attached to the secondary piston and coaxially extends through the primary upper and lower hollow shaft, and a central bore in the primary piston, and is adapted to selectively extend into the pipeline. In this manner, an object attached to the primary lower hollow shaft may be inserted into the pipeline, while the secondary hollow shaft provides for a second operation to be performed on the object. Wires may extend through the secondary hollow shaft or air may be circulated therethrough for pneumatic purposes. As an alternative embodiment the automatic insertion device can comprise a removable primary cylindrical housing utilized for inserting the primary insertion tool and a secondary cylindrical housing for telescopically inserting a hollow tube.

    摘要: A sample cylinder for holding natural gas or other fluid samples for analysis which can completely clear itself of one sample before being filled with a subsequent sample. The piston is adapted to receive an elastomeric head which is preferably concave to the end cap. The end cap is also preferably sloped downward toward the outlet. When the piston head contacts the end cap, contact begins near the cylinder body wall and progresses inward to the outlet. The end cap is adapted to receive an elastomeric gasket seal instead of an o-ring. No spaces are left between the end cap and the cylinder body which could retain sample fluid.

    摘要: The miniaturized sampler is activated by a diaphragm motor that can be screwed together by hand. The sampler uses an elastomeric collection head and typically takes a small sample each time the diaphragm motor is activated. The collection head is connected to a piston by a pin and ring arrangement that can be economically manufactured and easily serviced. Because the collection head is smaller than prior art designs, it takes less force to activate. A smaller collection head can be driven by a smaller diaphragm motor which allows overall sampler size and weight to be reduced when compared with prior art designs.

    摘要: A removable automatic insertion device with segmented drainage shaft may be used to remove unwanted liquids from pipelines, tanks and other pressurized vessels. The insertion device inserts and withdraws the drainage shaft, one segment at a time into the pipeline or other pressurized vessel. A termination assembly is connected to the subsurface end of the drainage shaft and includes a normally closed drainage valve assembly. After insertion of the drainage shaft, the automatic insertion device is removed and a surface mounted discharge assembly is connected to the drainage shaft. To open the drainage valve assembly and commence drainage of unwanted liquids, pressurized fluid is injected through the discharge assembly, and a segmented hollow actuation tube to open the subsurface drainage valve assembly. Unwanted fluids then pass through the open drainage valve assembly, the drainage shaft to the surface mounted discharge assembly.

A liquid eliminator device is provided within the body and interposed in a flow path such that gas will pass through and liquid will not. The gas will then be conducted to a sampling device while the liquid will pass through an exhaust port back to the source of fluid. An inlet valve is also provided to control the flow of fluid from the source to the liquid eliminator element. An outlet valve may be provided to control liquid back to the source.
