摘要: Disclosed is an apparatus for manually shifting an electronically control automated transmission. The device includes a series of mechanical linkage elements and gear transelements connected between the solenoid-operated valves of the automatic transmission and a control lever in the driver's compartment of the vehicle. One of the mechanical linkage elements is a cam shaft whose rotational position determines which subset of the solenoid operated valves will be actuated.

摘要: Disclosed is a self deployed, self retracting flotation device for a land hicle, the device including covers hinged to the sides of the vehicle. Inflatable air bags are attached to the covers so that inflating the bags swings up the covers and subsequently deflating the bags allows the covers to swing down. The device is constructed so that the bags protrude from between the cover and the vehicle when inflated and retract to a position between the cover and the vehicle when deflated. A reversible pump operable from within the vehicle is used to inflate or deflate the bags.

摘要: A military range safety light signaling system used on combat vehicles of e type having a freely rotatable gun turret. The signaling system is comprised of a vertical column of lights, preferably three lights from top to bottom of red, amber, and green in a regular traffic light pattern and a rotating flashing light mounted on the left rear of the gun turret. The rotating flashing light is preferably an interchangable infrared beacon mounted high above the turret for use in live fire exercise or an amber light for use in highway movement of the combat vehicle. An operator inside the combat vehicle may selectively switch on any combination of the vertical column of lights and the rotating flashing light to represent the operating status of the vehicle weapons system and its movement.

摘要: The invention is a system to override electric control units which normallyoverns the transmission and fuel regulating valve of an automotive vehicle. The system includes a first linkage to mechanically operate the automatic transmission, a bypass valve hydraulically in parallel with the fuel regulating valve, and a second linkage to mechanically operate the bypass valve. The linkages are connected to a control assembly in the driver's compartment of the vehicle, the assembly having two moveable members for manually actuating the linkages. The control assembly has a mechanism for keeping the bypass valve closed during selected gears or modes of the transmission. This mechanism also prevents the the transmission from shifting gears when the bypass valve is open.

摘要: The invention is an improved head support stand used to smoothly and accuely position a patient's head when imaging the patient's upper spinal area. The improved stand includes a compound turnbuckle mounted between a base of the stand and a head cradle or face plate mounted to the base. The compound turnbuckle includes two rods threadingly engaged to a turnbuckle body so that the rods translate with respect to the body when it rotates. When the compound turnbuckle is in a fully retracted position, the rods are in a telescoped configuration within the turnbuckle body. When the compound turnbuckle is in a fully extended position, the rods are axially remote from each other and project substantially all the way out of the turnbuckle body.

摘要: A training device for digital assessment of intraocular pressure (IOP) thatncludes a body, top, bottom cover, and two legs. The body contains ten cylindrical cavities, the depth of each cavity selected such that the sloped bottom of the cavity intersects with a 0.625-inch diameter hole that is drilled into the body from the top. A thin, circular piece of latex membrane approximately one-inch in diameter is located directly over each 0.625-inch diameter hole. The bottom contains ten tapped holes, the centers of which are aligned with the centers of the cavities, each containing a threaded rod with sufficient length to permit the rod to be rotated up to move a plastic plunger sized so as to easily slide into and out of its cavity in the body without binding. Moving the rotated position of the threaded rod with respect to the bottom determines the location of the plastic plunger in the cavity. Pressurization of each latex membrane surface occurs when a spherical latex bladder containing a non-compressible liquid is inserted inside each cavity. Prior to use by the trainee, the pressure in each liquid-filled bladder is established by adjusting the position of the plunger with the threaded rod while monitoring IOP with a Schiotz tonometer. The IOP of each of the ten membranes may then be established in various configurations depending upon the objective of the training session, e.g., set from 5 mm Hg to 50 mm Hg, increasing in 5 mm increments. As the training progresses, the ten samples can be calibrated in a random fashion in order to ascertain how well the previously trained health care professional can digitally measure IOP.
