摘要: 1,049,752. Making heat exchangers; soldering. S.A. DES USINES CHAUSSON. June 21, 1963 [July 9, 1962], No. 24814/63. Headings B3A and B3R. A method of making a heat exchanger comprises assembling tinned fins to tinned tubes, fitting a lower collector having flanged apertures over the ends of the tubes, expanding the tubes therein, pickling the assembly in a flux bath, tilting the assembly to remove excess flux therefrom by gravity or an air jet applied thereto, differentially heating the vertically disposed assembly by passing it through successive preheating and soldering chambers which extend to half the height of the assembly to effect soldering of the lower half thereof, air cooling the assembly, turning it through 180 degrees, attaching the upper collector to the tubes and differentially applying heat to the upper half thereof to effect soldering as before followed by accelerated cooling. The collector may be coated with soldering material by steeping in a bath or by an atomized spray. Alternatively, a thin perforated sheet of material may be inserted between the tubes and collector flanges on assembly. Hot air jets and one or more jet burners may be housed in the chambers to effect heating of the fin and tube portions and the collector respectively to effect soldering thereof. A blower unit may be positioned at the exit of each chamber to remove excess solder. The operations are preferably conveyerized with the process line having an in-line, looped or L1-shaped layout.

摘要: Component parts are evenly coated with fusible material by moving them at constant speed under a jet of said material conveyed in atomized form by gas pressure, a part of the peripheric zone formed by the perpendicular projection of said jet of fusible material being intercepted so that the margins of the non-intercepted area form an extended rectangle. The process may be used to apply an even coating of solder to radiation elements by supplying brazing wire to a metallizing gun. A suitable apparatus viewed in end-section, Fig. 2, comprises a conveyer moving at a steady speed carrying radiator elements 32, beneath a vertically mounted metallizing gun 1, the height of which may be adjusted. The outer zone of projected solder 2, which would produce a non-uniform peripheral coating on the series of elements, is intercepted by two rollers 9, 10 mounted with their axes parallel with the conveyer, and which rotate in the direction shown; solder is removed from the rollers by lips 25, 26 mounted on blocks 20, 22 which are spring-mounted. The rollers 9, 10 are water-cooled and their assemblies are adjustable to control the width of the rectangular slot between the rollers forming the coating area. Other features (Fig. 3 not shown) included a photo-electric cell mounted up-stream from the spray gun, receiving light reflected from untreated elements, which by electrical circuitry, controls the rate of feed of the calibrated brazing wire with the conveyer speed. The continuous belt-conveyer is also provided at the discharge end with scrapers to remove solder coating there-from. Solder metal may be in the form of wire, powder or pieces.
