Abstract: An energy device has an electrode including lithium cobaltite (LCO) grains, where the LCO grains are sintered to one another forming a self-supporting sheet with porous passages. The porous passages wind and branch through the sheet. The energy device further includes a solid electrolyte comprising lithium phosphosulfide (LPS) overlaying a major surface of the sheet and extending into the porous passages. The sheet serves as mechanical support for the solid electrolyte, allowing for high temperature joining of the LPS to the LCO without binder in the LPS.

Abstract: A PCB laminate material includes at least one polymer layer and at least one inorganic layer, such that the PCB laminate material has a dielectric loss tangent of less than 6×10−3 at 10 GHz (or higher frequency). The inorganic layer or layers of the PCB laminate material may comprise silica-based materials (including silica fabrics), low-loss glass with a dielectric loss tangent of about 0.006 at 10 GHz (or higher frequency), glass-ceramics, or ceramic materials (e.g., alumina). PCB laminate materials may also include at least one fluoropolymer layer. PCB laminate materials described herein combine good dielectric performance (i.e., low dielectric loss), dimensional stability at elevated temperature (e.g., at 260° C. for 30 seconds), and sufficient mechanical strength to permit handling during production. Printed circuit boards comprising the PCB laminate materials and methods for making the same are also disclosed herein.

Abstract: A method of making a self-supporting inorganic sheet, including: electrostatically depositing a dry inorganic powder on a surface to form an inorganic layer on the surface; and sintering the resulting inorganic layer to form a self-supporting sintered inorganic sheet. The method can additionally include, for example, separating of the self-supporting sintered inorganic sheet from the surface, optionally contacting the separated sintered inorganic sheet with a coupling agent, infiltrating the separated sintered inorganic sheet with a polymer with or without contacting with a coupling agent, or a combination thereof. Also disclosed is a sheet article made by the method.

Abstract: A roll-to-roll sintering system for wide inorganic tape material may include a spool on which is wound a continuous tape material comprising a green tape material and a backing layer, a take-up reel, and a heating station including at least one furnace. The heating station is configured to receive an unwound length of the continuous tape. The heating station further includes a first curved section such that the continuous tape material is bent through a radius of curvature of 0.01 m to 13,000 m, and at least two rollers defining the first curved section over which the continuous tape material is bent. The heating station is controlled to provide at least a portion of the heating station with an air free atmosphere, that being at least one of vacuum, hydrogen, or helium.

The first major surface and the second major surface have an unpolished granular profile such that the profile includes grains protruding outward from the respective major surface with a height of at least 25 nm and no more than 150 μm relative to recessed portions of the respective major surface at boundaries between the respective grains.
