摘要: Alkali-doped boroaluminosilicate glasses are provided. The glasses include the network formers SiO2, B2O3, and Al2O3. The glass may, in some embodiments, have a Young's modulus of less than about 65 GPa and/or a coefficient of thermal expansion of less than about 40×10−7/° C. The glass may be used as a cover glass for electronic devices, a color filter substrate, a thin film transistor substrate, or an outer clad layer for a glass laminate.

摘要: A lighting unit includes a glass laminate structure including a base layer formed from a first glass composition with a refractive index nbase and a surface layer fused to a surface of the base layer and formed from a second glass composition with a refractive index nsurface. The surface layer includes a high refractive index region with a refractive index nhigh and a low refractive index region with a refractive index nlow. nbase and nsurface satisfy the equation |nsurface−nbase≥0.001, nhigh is greater than or equal to nbase 1, and nlow is less than nbase. The high refractive index region is optically coupled to the base layer such that at least a portion of light propagating through the base layer leaks out of the base layer and into the high refractive index region. A display device or a luminaire can include the lighting unit.

摘要: A laminated glass article comprises a core layer comprising a core glass composition having an average core coefficient of thermal expansion (CTEcore) and a clad layer directly adjacent to the core layer and comprising a clad glass composition having an average clad coefficient of thermal expansion (CTEclad) that is less than the CTEcore such that the clad layer is in compression and the core layer is in tension. A compressive stress of the clad layer increases with increasing distance from the outer surface of the clad layer, transitions to a minimum tensile stress as a step-change at an interface region between the core layer and the clad layer, and a magnitude of the tensile stress increases continuously to a maximum tensile stress in the core layer. Other stress profiles, and methods of preparing laminated glass articles are also disclosed.

摘要: A glass laminate for an architectural element has a glass substrate coupled to the architectural element and defines a primary surface facing away from the architectural element. A phase-separable glass cladding is coupled to the primary surface. The cladding has an interconnected matrix with a first phase composition and a second phase that has a second phase composition different than the first phase composition. The second phase is distributed throughout the interconnected matrix. A copper phase is distributed within the interconnected matrix. The glass cladding has an antimicrobial log kill rate greater than about 4 as measured by an EPA Copper Test Protocol.

摘要: A glass element having a thickness from 25 μm to 125 μm, a first primary surface, a second primary surface, and a compressive stress region extending from the first primary surface to a first depth, the region defined by a compressive stress GI of at least about 100 MPa at the first primary surface. Further, the glass element has a stress profile such that it does not fail when it is subject to 200,000 cycles of bending to a target bend radius of from 1 mm to 20 mm, by the parallel plate method. Still further, the glass element has a puncture resistance of greater than about 1.5 kgf when the first primary surface of the glass element is loaded with a tungsten carbide ball having a diameter of 1.5 mm.

摘要: Glass pharmaceutical packages comprising glass containers are disclosed. In embodiments, a coated glass pharmaceutical package includes a glass container formed from one of a borosilicate glass composition that meets Type 1 criteria according to USP or an alkali aluminosilicate glass having a Class HGA 1 hydrolytic resistance when tested according to the ISO 720-1985 testing standard. A lubricous coating may be positioned on at least a portion of the exterior surface of the glass container. The portion of the coated glass pharmaceutical package with the lubricous coating has a coefficient of friction that is at least 20% less than an uncoated glass container formed from the same glass composition. A horizontal compression strength of the portion of the coated glass pharmaceutical package with the lubricous coating may be at least 10% greater than an uncoated glass container formed from the same glass composition.
