摘要: An object of the present invention is to prevent the ends of print media fed continuously from colliding with each other. The present invention is a printing apparatus including: a printing unit configured to perform print operation; a detecting unit configured to detect conveyance abnormality; a conveying unit configured to convey a preceding print medium and a succeeding print medium; a conveying path having a first area including a curved portion at which a conveying direction of the print medium is curved and a second area upstream of the first area; and an opening unit capable of opening the first area of the conveying path, wherein, in a case where a leading edge of the succeeding print medium is located in the second area at the time of the detecting unit detecting conveyance abnormality of the preceding print medium, the conveying unit conveys the succeeding print medium so that the leading edge of the succeeding print medium reaches the first area.

摘要: A printing apparatus includes a printing unit that includes an ejection port surface provided with ejection ports through which liquid is ejected, a wiping unit, a depressurizing unit, and detection unit. The wiping unit has an opening and wipes the ejection port surface by moving in a predetermined direction while the opening abuts against the ejection port surface. The depressurizing unit applies negative pressure to the ejection port surface via the opening. The detection unit detects an ejection state of the ejection ports. After driving the depressurizing unit when the opening abuts against the ejection port surface, the suction operation sucks the liquid from the ejection ports while moving the wiping unit. The suction operation is performed from a first ejection port detected as an ejection-failed ejection port by the detection unit under a suction condition different from suction conditions of the ejection ports other than the first ejection port.

摘要: For a printing apparatus, a first conveyance speed for a first printing medium is determined according to first print data to be printed on the first printing medium and a second conveyance speed for a second printing medium is determined according to second print data to be printed on the second printing medium that follows the first printing medium along a conveying path. In a case where the second conveyance speed is equal to the first conveyance speed, a conveyance operation of the second printing medium is started before the first printing medium is discharged from the conveying path. In a case where the second conveyance speed is different from the first conveyance speed, the conveyance operation of the second printing medium is started after the first printing medium is discharged from the conveying path.

The determination is made according to the acquired amount of ink. The direction information acquisition unit acquires information indicating a paper grain direction of the paper relative to a conveyance direction in which the conveyance unit conveys the paper. The setting unit sets the predetermined region according to the paper grain direction relative to the conveyance direction indicated by the acquired paper grain direction information.

摘要: A technique that enables application of additional conveyance force to a print medium and conveyance of various sizes of print media without multi-feed is described. A conveyance device includes a feed unit, a first conveyance unit that conveys a print medium, and a second conveyance unit that conveys a print medium fed by the feed unit to the first conveyance unit, and is capable of correcting the skew of a print medium by causing the second conveyance unit to convey the print medium with its leading edge in abutment with the first conveyance unit. This conveyance device is configured to cause the feed unit to apply conveyance force to a print medium conveyed by the second conveyance unit, depending on the size of the print medium in the conveyance direction.

In addition, when the locking unit unlocks the cover unit the cover unit is opened by a predetermined degree by the urging force of the urging unit.
