Abstract: A flow restriction device includes a proximal housing configured to couple to a fluid collection device, a distal housing configured to couple to a catheter assembly, an intermediate housing interposed between the proximal and distal housings, an internal fluid channel extending transversely through the proximal, intermediate and distal housings, and a fluid shield device coupled to the distal housing, the fluid shield device comprising a flexible material. The fluid shield device covers an end portion of a male center post of the distal housing in an unconnected position, compresses down the male center post into a groove of the distal housing in a connected position, and recovers the end portion of the male center post to contain fluid within the male center post upon returning to an unconnected position. The engagement lip is configured to releasably engage the connector housing with a mating connector portion. Abstract: Pump assemblies for use with an IV set are described herein. A pump assembly includes a rotatable crank, a piston rod, and a diaphragm assembly. The crank includes a crank profile defining a plurality of lobes. The piston rod includes a first follower and a second follower spaced apart from the first follower. The rotation of the crank relative to the piston rod causes the piston rod to reciprocate relative to the crank. The diaphragm assembly includes a housing and a diaphragm member. The diaphragm member is coupled to the housing and cooperatively defines a volume in fluid communication with the IV set. The diaphragm member is movable between an extended position configured to draw in fluid from the IV set and a contracted position configured to expel fluid into the IV set. The diaphragm member is coupled to the piston rod to reciprocate the diaphragm member.

Abstract: Fluid connector assemblies that seal off fluid paths in the respective connectors are disclosed. When connectors of a fluid connector assembly are connected to each other, respective compressible members in the connectors are displaced, allowing downstream fluid passage through the fluid connector assembly. The connectors maintain a connection by a snap mechanism that provides a threshold retention force. When an external force greater than the threshold force is applied to the fluid connector assembly, the snap mechanism may no longer maintain the connectors together, causing the connectors to decouple from each other. However, each of the compressible members can return to their respective original positions and shapes to seal off respective fluid paths in the connectors, thus preventing further downstream and upstream flow through the fluid connector assembly and limiting or preventing fluid loss.
