Changes to the position of the stimulus and any corresponding tracked eye movement are used to assess the patient's visual field.

    摘要: A constrained prosthetic knee having as its component parts a femoral implant, a tibial implant, and a meniscal plate disposed between the implants. Knee flexion and extension is permitted by compoundly curved condyle surfaces of the femoral implant, which resemble corresponding surfaces of a natural knee, and correspondingly shaped convex bearing surfaces in the meniscal plate and tibial implant. This interface is defined by a continuous, concave, spherically shaped surface in the upwardly facing plateau of the tibial implant and a corresponding, continuous, convex spherical surface of the meniscal plate. A post projects from the tibial implant into a cavity defined by the femoral implant and the free end of the post and the cavity have opposing, cooperating and overlapping ledges which maintain the implants constrained to each other. The ledges permit unrestrained flexion, extension and torsional movement of the knee and limited lateral rocking (adduction-abduction).

    摘要: A replacement spark plug for reciprocating internal combustion engines that functions as a fuel injector and as a spark plug to provide a "stratified-charge" effect. The conventional carburetor is retained to supply the main fuel-air mixture which may be very lean because of the stratified charge. The replacement plug includes a cylindrical piezoelectric ceramic which contracts to act as a pump whenever an ignition pulse is applied to a central rod through the ceramic. The rod is hollow at its upper end for receiving fuel, it is tapered along its lower length to act as a pump, and it is flattened at its lower end to act as a valve for fuel injection from the pump into the cylinder. The rod also acts as the center electrode of the plug, with the spark jumping from the plug base to the lower end of the rod to thereby provide spark ignition that has inherent proper timing with the fuel injection.

    摘要: A Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) is enclosed within a bulb normally used for incandescent fixtures. The CCFL is bent into a u-shape to fit within the bulb and the ballast can be installed in the lamp base. In an alternative embodiment, one or more CCFLs is enclosed within a fluorescent lamp tube or bulb with bi pin end caps. An insert in the end cap can support the CCFLs. Contact is made to the CCFLs through a connection with the pins of the end caps. In an alternative arrangement, the CCFLs are supported within the tube by electrode wires connecting to the pins.

    摘要: According to a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of measuring a property of an eye of a subject using an apparatus which is: arranged to provide a bleaching light, a background light ostensibly invisible to rods (e.g. substantially red, and/or having or being a wavelength greater than 580 nm) and a target light ostensibly visible to rods (e.g. substantially green, and/or having or being a wavelength less than 580 nm and greater than 400 nm, e.g. around 514 nm+/−50 nm), the background light and/or target light (together) being suitable for rod-dominated stimulation, the background light and target light being superimposable upon one another, and the target light being presentable to the subject such that the target light is incident on a parafoveal region of the subject's retina; the method comprising: a) stimulating the subject's retina with a low level bleach using the bleaching light; b) after the bleach has been undertaken, modulating a target light at an initial luminance at which modulation of the target light is not perceivable by the subject, whilst a background light remains substantially constant; c) increasing the luminance of the modulated target light; d) receiving an input from the subject when modulation of the target light is perceivable by the subject, thus indicating a rod-related threshold; e) after said input, decreasing the luminance of the modulated target light; and f) repeating parts c) to e) of the method to determine a series of rod-related thresholds over a period of time.

The new alloys generally are resistant to armor piercing rounds at 2850 fps, resistant to fragment simulated particles at 2950 fps, and are resistant to spalling. To achieve the improved ballistics properties, the alloys are generally overaged so as to obtain a tensile yield strength that is (i) at least about 10 ksi lower than peak strength and/or (ii) no greater than 70 ksi.
