摘要: A method and a control circuit for reducing an instantaneous startup current of a computer system by decreasing a fan rotational speed are provided. The computer system comprises a management controller coupled to a fan device through a tri-state buffer. In the present method, a duty cycle of a first PWM signal is reduced by the management controller. After that, the tri-state buffer is enabled to pass the first PWM signal with the reduced duty cycle to the fan device. Finally, the fan device is powered with the first PWM signal when the computer system is powered on. By reducing the duty cycle of the PWM signal before powering the computer system and turning on the fan device, the fan rotational speed of the fan device can be decreased when the computer system is powered on. As a result, the instantaneous startup current of the computer system can be reduced.

摘要: A method for reducing instantaneous current on startup is applicable to an electronic device with a management controller. The management controller is electrically connected to a startup processing module of the electronic device such that operations of fans equipped in the electronic device can be controlled via this electrical connection relationship. When the electronic device is turned on, operations of the fans in the electronic device are disabled by the startup processing module. Then, when power is detected by the management controller, the smallest amount of current possible for operations of the fans for heat-dissipating purpose is generated by the management controller. Finally, hardware components in the electronic device are initialized by the management controller. The above method solves the problem of system instability due to large instantaneous current on startup in the prior art.

摘要: A riser card identification system identifies a riser card electrically connected with a computer system having a BIOS and a storage unit. The system includes a setting unit, a signal generating unit for generating a waveform signal according to a control signal output by the computer system, a charging/discharging unit built inside the riser card for performing a charging/discharging process to convert the waveform signal into an analog signal, a signal comparing unit for comparing the analog signal with a reference signal output by the computer system and generating a digital signal, and a signal reading unit for reading duty cycle of the digital signal. The charging/discharging unit has a characteristic value as an identification mark of the riser card corresponding to the charging/discharging unit. Therefore, the BIOS is able to identify the riser card according to the read duty cycle and information stored in the storage unit.

摘要: A fan controlling system applicable in an electronic system having a plurality of fans is disclosed. The fan-controlling system includes a first signal generating module and a second signal generating module for generating a first and a second pulse width modulation (PWM) signals according to control instructions output by the electronic system. The fan-controlling system further includes a phase-inverting module and a delay module. Therefore, PWM signals, which are delayed with a time interval one another, can be generated by the fan controlling system, so as to respectively control a plurality of fans of the electronic system, thereby avoiding the peak value of the total power signals when the fans are run from increasing instantly, and power signal for supplying the electronic system from decreasing instantly, making the electronic system run abnormally, and its stability becomes worse.
