摘要: A femtocell base station is configured to transmit site-specific services data to in-range wireless devices, using a common broadcast channel. The site-specific services data identifies available services including, but not limited to, alternate radio signals available in the vicinity, such as FM radio signals, wireless local-area network (WLAN) signals, and the like; location-related services, including the availability of location beacon signals and/or location assistance data for use in position determination using assisted-GPS technology; and physical resources available to the device user, such as printers, copy machines, vending services, and the like. An exemplary mobile station is configured to extract site-specific services data from the femtocell base station signal, and to access a second radio signal using the site-specific services data. In some embodiments, the second radio signal may comprise a low-power FM radio signal, a wireless local-area network (WLAN) signal, a location beacon, or a radio-navigation signal.

摘要: A method of distributing programs enables distribution of programs on demand to end devices in a communication network to enable communication between first and second end devices. A data object server stores programs that are needed for communication between first and second end devices. The programs are associated by the data object server with a device class. The first and second end devices can send data object requests to the data object server to request an program associated with a particular device class. In response to the data object request, the data object server sends a control program associated with the specified device to one of the first and second end devices.

摘要: Methods of operating a satellite navigation system (SNS) receiver in a portable electronic device according to some embodiments include determining the presence or absence of a low frequency signal associated with power distribution lines, and disabling the SNS receiver in response to detecting the low frequency signal associated with power distribution lines. The methods may further include detecting weakening of a satellite navigation signal, and determining the presence or absence of a low frequency signal associated with power distribution lines may be performed in response to a detected weakening of the satellite navigation signal. Related devices are also disclosed.

摘要: An electronic device has a display, a controller, and a pair of haptic transducers connected to the display. The controller configures the haptic transducers to momentarily vibrate the display. A pair of sensors disposed on the display detects variations caused by the user touch in the vibrations. Based on an analysis of these variations, the controller can determine whether a user performed at least one of a swipe action and a multi-touch action, across the display.

摘要: A coordinated signaling scheme for both uplink and downlink transmissions between a base station and a user terminal reduces the amount of time that the user terminal must turn on its receiver to listen for scheduling messages and ACK/NACK signaling. A scheduler at a base station aligns the transmission of downlink scheduling messages (e.g., downlink assignments) with uplink grants and ACK/NACK signaling for uplink transmissions. Aligning the downlink scheduling messages with uplink control signaling enables the user terminal to turn off its receiver for longer periods of time.

摘要: An application program in a host server is operative to detect a change in the host server IP address and, in response thereto, send a message containing the changed address to a remote client, such as a mobile communication device. The message may be transmitted as an email message to a Short Message Server of a cellular provider for the mobile communication device. The message preferably contains at least the changed IP address of the server. The SMS server can identify the phone number of the mobile communication device from the received message and thereby transmit the changed IP address portion of the message to the mobile communication device.

摘要: A plurality of light sources is mounted on a housing of an interactive user device. The sources are spaced from each other in a defined spatial relationship, for example in a linear configuration. At least one light sensor is also positioned at the surface of the housing. The light sensor senses light that is reflected from an object placed by the user, such as the user's finger, within an area of the light generated by the light sources. A processor in the user device can recognize the sensed reflected light as a user input command correlated with a predefined operation and respond accordingly to implement the operation.
