    摘要: A roller valve lifter, especially of the hydraulic lash adjusting type for diesel engines, has an enlarged bronze roller shaft journal for extended wear with a diameter at least half that of the surrounding skirt of the lifter body within which it is mounted. The roller/shaft assembly is received in a recess through the open bottom end of the lifter body, the shaft having mounting tangs with flats which engage abutments in the recess to locate the roller in the recess. Retention is preferably by staking portions of the tangs into recesses in the skirt, preferably formed by openings adjacent the ends of the tangs.

    摘要: A new lighting system is provided that is particularly useful in projecting light to a deck where pilots use night vision goggles (NVGs). The system comprises a pair of subsystems that project light with different, complementary spatial distributions. One subsystem projects light with one spatial distribution, and the other lighting subsystem projects light with another spatial distribution that supplements the light from the first subsystem, so as to provide a system that effectively illuminates an entire target. The system is designed to substantially filter light so that the light does not interfere with NVGs. The system includes new optical projection structure that minimizes the overall size of the projection structure, and maintains good efficiency.

    摘要: A light engine comprises a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) devices arranged in a plane and a corresponding plurality of reflector cups wherein each LED device is disposed in a corresponding reflector cup and wherein the light engine does not include either a diffuser or a light mixing cavity. A directional lamp comprises the aforesaid light engine and an imaging lens arranged to generate an image of the light engine at about infinity. The directional lamp may further include a collecting reflector (for example, a conical, parabolic, or compound parabolic reflector) extending between a relatively narrower entrance aperture at which the light engine is disposed and a relatively wider exit aperture at which the imaging lens is disposed. The imaging lens may be arranged to generate a defocused image of the light engine at about infinity to soften the beam edge.
