Abstract: A network includes a centralized power and signal distribution device deployed at a communication closet at a site. The centralized device includes a switch controller connected to a direct current power supply. The network includes at least one customer premises termination device connected to the switch controller, an access apparatus deployed at each of the multiple customer premises, and a power over cable system to carry power and signals. Each access apparatus connected to the at least one customer premises termination device and to provide access to user devices. The switch controller power cycles at least one of the switch controller, the at least one customer premises termination device, or applicable access apparatus in response to a power cycle command from a controller when at least one of the switch controller, the at least one customer premises termination device, or any access apparatus fail to transmit a status signal.

Abstract: Event synchronization in an online game is disclosed. A central computing device sends event information that identifies an event and an event depiction timestamp that identifies a future time at which to depict the event to a plurality of computing devices that are time synchronized with one another. The central computing device receives, from a first set of computing devices, a set of first messages, each first message including action information that identifies a user input received by a corresponding computing device and an action timestamp that identifies a time at which the user input was received by the corresponding computing device. Based on the action timestamps and the user inputs in the set of first messages, a next event to be depicted is determined, and next event information that identifies the next event is sent to the plurality of computing devices.

Abstract: Methods and systems for an intelligent tap with dynamically configurable amplifier gain. The intelligent tap includes a filter configured to process a signal received from a service provider system via a hybrid fiber-coaxial network, an amplifier connected to the filter, the amplifier configured to apply a feedback controlled gain value to the signal to generate an output signal, where the feedback controlled gain value is based on a comparison of a target signal strength to a sampled output signal strength, and a signal strength measuring component connected to the amplifier in a feedback loop, the signal strength measuring component configured to sample the output signal, and compare a signal strength of a sampled output signal to the target signal strength to generate the feedback controlled gain value, where application of the feedback controlled gain value maintains the output signal at a constant amplitude pursuant to the target signal strength.

Abstract: A communication management resource such as a domain proxy receives a request transmitted from a wireless base station. The wireless station generates the request to register the wireless base station for subsequent allocation of wireless channels. In response to receiving the request, the communication management resource maps an identity of the wireless base station to a geographical location in which the wireless base station resides and forwards the request and notification of the geographical location to a channel allocation resource (a.k.a., allocation management resource) that allocates use of the wireless channels in a region in which the geographical location resides.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for securely mounting an enclosure are described. In various embodiments a device enclosure includes a recessed back area in which a mounting latch including a generally key-shaped opening is positioned. A mounting bracket including a post having multiple dimensions is secured to a wall. The enclosure and latch is placed over the post. The enclosure is moved so that the post slides in the key-shaped opening and snaps into the first portion of the key-shaped opening. To release the latch a release tool is inserted into a slot or other opening and rotated so that the tip or tips of the release tool can pass through one or more openings in a rear wall of the enclosure and compress a portion of the latch allowing the enclosure and latch to slide on the shaft until the enclosure reaches a position where it can be removed.

Abstract: Automated determination of a timing offset for DOCSIS time protocol to provide precision time protocol accuracy. A cable modem receives, from a cable modem termination system (CMTS), a message that includes a timestamp that is correlated to a primary reference clock. The cable modem determines a downstream travel time representative of a period of time between a generation of the timestamp by the CMTS and a first timing reference point of the cable modem. The cable modem accesses an internal delay time representative of a period of time for the timestamp to travel from the first timing reference point to a second timing reference point of the cable modem, and sets a precision time protocol (PTP) clock of the cable modem to a time equal to the timestamp incremented by the downstream travel time and the internal delay time.
