摘要: Described is continuous network coding, in which a relay sends probability data comprising a continuous number for use as parity data. The node receives streams of bits sent from sources towards a destination, and computes the probability data based on current noise data and/or fading data. A selected set of the bits (all or some subset thereof) are combined, e.g., XOR-ed or concatenated, and send to the destination. Phase modulation is performed to convey probability information based on the probability data. The destination demodulates the signal to obtain the probability information, and combines the probability information with the data directly received from sources to perform joint decoding. The number of bits in the set of selected bits may be adaptively chosen based on current channel conditions, e.g., increased when the channel conditions from the sources directly to a destination are poor relative to the channel conditions via the relay.

摘要: Computation scheduling and allocation for visual communication is described. In one aspect, multiple frames of video data are encoded by allocating for at least a subset of inter-coded frames, on frame-by-frame basis, computational resources to encode the inter-coded frame. To this end, a computational budget to encode a current inter-coded frame is estimated. The estimate is based on the actual computational costs to encode a previous inter-coded frame of video data. Next, sets of operations associated with encoding the current inter-coded frame are analyzed to determine computational resources to implement the operations. If the computational resources exceed the computational budget, complexity of the operations is reduced until the associated computational resources are less than or equal to the computational budget. At this point, the current inter-coded frame is encoded using the operations and the computational budget. This process is repeated for the remaining inter-coded frames of video data.

摘要: A method and system for encrypting a video compressed with MPEG-4 FGS compression with minimal overhead is provided. The encryption system encrypts the video into independently encrypted segments that can be either a video packet or a video block. When the encryption system encrypts based on video packets, it encrypts the data to ensure that the encrypted data does not emulate any video packet delimiting markers. When the encryption system encrypts based on video blocks, it encrypts the coded bitstream for each video block independently, from the most significant bitplane to the least significant bitplane, using either a stream or a block cipher. After all the video blocks are independently encrypted, the encryption system partitions the encrypted data into video packets and adds a buffering bit, if necessary, to prevent emulation of video packet delimiting markers. The encryption system may generate an initialization vector for each independently encrypted segment.

摘要: The techniques and mechanisms described herein are directed to controlling communication paths between conference members in a decentralized multi-party conference that supports a full mesh architecture. Several check points are tested in order to handle concurrency issues and to ensure quality of service. First, a check is made to determine whether any pending communication paths exist between the two systems. Second, a check is made to determine whether one of the systems is in the process of leaving the multi-party conference. Third, a check is made to determine whether a maximum number of conference members already exist in the conference. Upon failing any of these checks, the communication path between the two systems fails. Upon success, the new system initiates the joining process with each of the other members in the conference in order to maintain the full mesh architecture.

摘要: Transmission optimization for application-level multicast is described. For each member of a video conference, a multicast tree is generated that represents a data communication configuration of a data source and the other members of a video conference which are data recipients that receive video and audio data from the data source. An end-to-end transmission delay from each data source to each of the respective data recipients is determined, and the available bandwidth between each data source and the respective data recipients is determined. One or more of the multicast trees, each corresponding to a data source, are refined according to the end-to-end transmission delay and available bandwidth for a particular data source to optimize the data communication configuration of the data source in the video conference.

摘要: A method for compressing a high dynamic range (HDR) texture. A first block of texels of the HDR texture in a red-green-blue (RGB) space may be transformed to a second block of texels in a luminance-chrominance space. The first block may have red values, green values and blue values. The second block may have luminance values and chrominance values. The chrominance values may be based on a sum of the red values, a sum of the green values and a sum of the blue values. The luminance values and the chrominance values may be converted to an 8-bit integer format. The luminance values may be modified to restore a local linearity property to the second block. The second block may be compressed.

摘要: Systems and methods for video coding using spatio-temporal texture synthesis are described. In one aspect, a video data coding pipeline portion of the codec removes texture blocks from the video data to generate coded video data. The removed texture blocks are selected based on an objective determination that each of the remove texture blocks can be synthesized from spatio-temporal neighboring samples during decoding operations. The objective determinations are made using local block-based motion information independent of global motion models. An indication of which texture blocks were removed is provided to a decoder in addition to the coded video data. Decoding logic of the codec decodes the video data using a standard decoding algorithm. The decoding logic also restores the removed texture blocks via spatio-temporal texture synthesis to generate synthesized video data. The decoded and synthesized video data is presented to a user.
