    摘要: A panoramic imaging system is constructed to acquire panoramic images of a very large field of view. The field of view ranges from being nearly hemispherical, to being omni directional with some parts occluded. The panoramic imaging system is comprised of multiple imaging sensors, each imaging different parts of the field of view. The panoramic image is constructed by mosaicing the images taken by different sensors that share a common viewpoint. The resolution across the entire panoramic image is substantially the same. Specific embodiments of the camera provide specific combinations of features, such as different visual fields.

    摘要: This invention concerns an ergonomic optical see-through head mounted display device with an eyeglass appearance. The see-through head-mounted display device consists of a transparent, freeform waveguide prism for viewing a displayed virtual image, a see-through compensation lens for enabling proper viewing of a real-world scene when combined together with the prism, and a miniature image display unit for supplying display content. The freeform waveguide prism, containing multiple freeform refractive and reflective surfaces, guides light originated from the miniature display unit toward a user's pupil and enables a user to view a magnified image of the displayed content. A see-through compensation lens, containing multiple freeform refractive surfaces, enables proper viewing of the surrounding environment, through the combined waveguide and lens. The waveguide prism and the see-through compensation lens are properly designed to ergonomically fit human heads enabling a wraparound design of a lightweight, compact, and see-through display system.

    摘要: A tiled head-mounted display device comprises an optical component including a plurality of prisms with free-form surfaces, and a display component including a plurality of micro-displays (6), wherein the number of the micro-displays (6) and the number of the prisms with free-form surfaces is identical, and each prism with free-form surfaces and the corresponding micro-display (6) constitute a display channel. Each prism is a wedge prism including a first surface (2), a second surface (3) and a third surface (4). The exit pupil planes of each display channel are coincident, thus avoiding pupil aberration and keeping exit pupil diameter and eye clearance same as a single ocular. There is no resolution variance throughout the entire field of view, thus preventing extra trapezoid distortion. The tiled head-mounted display device is compact and lightweight, and provides wide field of view and high resolution. The tiled head-mounted display device can be readily applicable to augmented environments applications by simply adding an auxiliary free-form lens behind the prism with free-form surfaces.

    摘要: A method, system and computer program product for eliminating the latency in searching for contiguous memory space by an IO DMA request of a device driver. Three new application programming interfaces (APIs) are provided within the operating system (OS) code that allows the device driver(s) to (1) pre-request and pre-allocate the IO DMA address range from the OS during the IPL and maintain control of the address, (2) map a system (virtual/physical) address range to a specific pre-allocated IO DMA address range, and (3) free the pre-allocated IO DMA address space back to the kernel when the space is no longer required. Utilizing these APIs enables advanced IO DMA address mapping techniques maintained by the device drivers, and the assigned/allocated IO DMA address space is no longer fragmented, and the latency of completing the IO DMA mapping is substantially reduced/eliminated.

The lens may be included as is, or scaled to be included in all instruments using conventional Double-Gauss lens forms. The preferred lens is only 20 mm in diameter and 15 mm long has a weight of only 8 g. Thus, two lenses for head mounted stereo displays is only 16 g. Such a stereo display, known as a head-mounted projective display (HMPD), consists of a pair of miniature projection lenses, beam splitters, and miniature displays mounted on the helmet, and retro-reflective sheeting materials placed strategically in the environment.
