Abstract: Certain types of aggregation enclosures include cable input ports and downwardly angled cable output ports. A cover is pivotally coupled to the body so that the cover moves between an open position and a closed position. A modular component panel may be disposed within the enclosure. The component panel includes one or more distribution components (e.g., fiber distribution components or power distribution components) configured to connect at least a portion of an incoming cable to at least a portion of an outgoing cable.

In one embodiment, an upstream service disconnect unit comprises: a processor; a relay control; and a switching relay coupled to a upstream service delivery unit, a first end of an electrical conductor span, and a access network distribution point unit that is coupled to an optical fiber network, wherein a second end of the electrical conductor span is coupled to a customer premises equipment DSL modem; wherein the upstream service disconnect unit is configured to energize the processor, the relay control, and the switching relay and to operate the switching relay to couple the electrical conductor span with the access network distribution point unit by tapping power of a trigger signal drawn from the electrical conductor span.

Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a system comprising a panel comprising a plurality of openings. The system is configured to selectively couple a panel contact for each opening to an RFID reader. The system further comprises a plurality of optical adapters. Each optical adapter comprises: at least one radio frequency identifier (RFID) antenna; at least one adapter contact that is electrically connected to the RFID antenna; and at least one conductor configured to electrically connect the adapter contact to respective one of respective panel contacts when the optical adapter is inserted into one of the openings of the panel. The RFID antenna of each connector is configured to be positioned near an RFID tag attached to the connector when the connector is inserted into the body of the optical adapter. The system is configured to selectively couple the RFID reader to each of the panel contacts. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a tray for use in a subrack of a rack. The tray comprises a printed circuit board configured so that a plurality of connections can be made at a plurality of positions on the printed circuit board, each of the plurality of connections involving at least one connector positioned on a patch side of the plurality of positions and the least one connector having a device associated therewith in which information is stored. The tray is configured so that either side of the positions can be used as the patch side. The tray is configured so that the devices associated with the connectors involved in making the connections at the patch side can be read via the tray. The devices associated with the connections can be implemented, for example, using RFID tags or connection point identifier (CPID) storage devices (such as EEPROMs).
