Abstract:
According to certain aspects, a method can include creating a backup copy of data associated with a virtual machine (VM) on one or more secondary storage devices, wherein the backup copy includes corresponding secondary copies of a plurality of files associated with the VM; analyzing metadata associated with the secondary copies to determine which of the plurality files are eligible to be removed from the primary storage device; in response determining that one or more files are eligible to be removed from the primary storage device, for respective file of the one or more files: determining whether the respective file has been changed since a first time at which the backup copy of the data associated with the VM was created; in response to determining that the respective file has not changed since the first time, removing the respective file; and adding a file placeholder for the removed file.
Abstract:
A backup or storage management system is provided that can secure data within a primary storage environment that stores data in an unsecured format. The storage management system can automatically analyze data received for backup from the primary storage environment and determine whether the data includes information that has been identified as sensitive and/or information that is determined within a threshold degree of probability to be sensitive. The storage management system can then modify the storage of the data that includes sensitive information at the primary storage environment, thereby enabling the data to be secured within the unsecured, or partially secured, primary storage environment. Advantageously, in certain embodiments, by securing data with sensitive information within an unsecured storage environment, embodiments disclosed herein can reduce the occurrences of a data breach or data leak.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and computer-implemented products are provided that collect user file event notifications in real-time and optimizes the collected file event notifications by recognizing file event sets and pruning certain file events from the event sets. The optimized file event notification information is then indexed on an index server. The file's content information (e.g., sensitive information) and the file's metadata are independently collected and indexed and stored on the index server. The information from the optimized file event notifications, the file's content information, and the file's metadata are co-related to each other and presented in a file activity audit report.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides for an information management system that implements a method for migrating one or more sub-clients of a source filer to one or more sub-clients of a destination filer. The information management system may receive a request to migrate data of a source filer to a destination filer and identifying one or more sub-clients of the source filer. The information management system may then present the identified one or more sub-clients to a user of a client computing device, and receive a selection of one or more sub-clients from the identified one or more sub-clients. The information management system may then create one or more sub-clients on the destination filer, and synchronize data of each sub-client of the selected one or more sub-clients with a corresponding sub-client of the created one or more sub-clients on the destination filer.
