    摘要： A specimen carrier includes an elongate member defining an external sealing surface and a support surface upon which a specimen can be carried, the elongate member including a first material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion. The specimen carrier further includes a cap configured to be passed over a portion of the elongate member to close a region of the cap that surrounds the specimen when the cap is passed over the portion of the elongate member, the cap defining an internal sealing surface formed complementary to the external sealing surface, and the cap including a second material having a second coefficient of thermal expansion that is greater than the first coefficient of thermal expansion. When the elongate member and cap are together placed in a cooling substance, the internal sealing surface of the cap compresses the external sealing surface of the elongate member to form a hermetic seal.

    摘要： A tray for securing an implantable device to a carrier member includes a slot configured to retain the carrier member and a receptacle adjacent the slot. The carrier member surrounds a shaft of the implantable device. The receptacle has a first width at a proximal end of the receptacle to receive first and second arms of the implantable device in an initial state in which the first and second arms extend substantially perpendicularly from the shaft. The receptacle has a second width at a distal end of the receptacle for receiving the first and second arms of the implantable device in a collapsed state in which the first and second arms are folded against the shaft such that the carrier member can be slid over the first and second arms to retain the first and second arms. The second width is less than the first width.

    摘要： A distal tip of a surgical tool includes a tip body and an expandable member that extends around the tip body. The tip body defines an end portion that defines an attachment surface and an elongate member that is configured to be inserted within a tubular shaft of the surgical tool. The elongate member also defines a recessed channel that terminates at the end portion. The expandable member is secured to the attachment surface with a chemical bond and is adjustable between an expanded configuration in which at least a portion of the expandable member extends radially outward from the tip body and a collapsed configuration in which at least the portion of the expandable member is oriented substantially parallel to the tip body.
