Abstract: In a submerged discharge device, a pair of electrodes is arranged in a liquid in a reservoir to receive an alternating voltage from an alternating power source, thereby generating a submerged discharge using a discharger arranged in the liquid between the pair of electrodes. A surface of this pair of electrodes has a coating that ensures the submerged discharge generated by the discharger. This may reduce the area of contact between the surface of the pair of electrodes and the liquid in the treatment vessel to reduce the consumption of the pair of electrodes.

Abstract: A water treatment vessel (10) causes electric discharge in water stored therein to produce a sterilizing factor. The water treatment vessel (10) moves in accordance with the level of water in a reservoir (30) to be switched between a discharging state where the water treatment vessel (10) and the reservoir (30) have no communication, and a pair of electrodes (16, 17) are immersed in water in the water treatment vessel (10) to cause the electric discharge, and a draining state where the pair of electrodes (16, 17) come out of water in the water treatment vessel (10) to stop the electric discharge, and water flows out of the water treatment vessel (10) into the reservoir (30). The water supplier (20) supplies water to the water treatment vessel (10) in the draining state, and stop the supply of water to the water treatment vessel (10) in the discharging state.

Abstract: A water treatment unit performs a normal operation during which discharge parts generate an electric discharge in a state where water flows into a treatment vessel and treated water flows out of the treatment vessel. When the water treatment unit starts operating, the water treatment unit performs a preparatory operation for a predetermined period of time before starting the normal operation. During the preparatory operation, the discharge parts generate an electric discharge in a state where an outflow of the water from the treatment vessel is stopped. As a result, the water which has been stagnating in the treatment vessel while the water treatment unit is not operating and in which bacteria have grown is sufficiently sterilized.

Abstract: A water treatment system includes a water treatment unit and insulators. The water treatment unit is provided in an intermediate portion of a water passage allowing target water to flow, and produces bactericidal factors in the target water utilizing a discharge. The insulators are provided at an inflow side and an outflow side of the water treatment unit, respectively, and electrically insulate the water flowing to and out of the water treatment unit from the water treatment unit. The insulator at the inflow side sprays the target water to insulate the water. The insulator at the outflow side allows the target water to fall down from the water treatment unit to insulate the water.
