    Abstract: In an onboard charging apparatus, a plurality of main electric-power storage apparatuses are connected in series to one another. A main electric-power storage apparatus on a lowest potential side of the main electric-power storage apparatuses is a lowest potential electric-power storage apparatus. The lowest potential electric-power storage apparatus has a nominal voltage that is set to 12 V, and supplies electric power to an electrical component mounted to a vehicle. In the onboard charging apparatus, a connecting unit selectively connects, by switching control, the output terminal and any of high potential side terminals of the main electric-power storage apparatuses. A switching control unit controls switching of the connecting unit to switch the high potential side terminal selected as a connection destination of the output terminal among the high potential side terminals of the main electric-power storage apparatuses, based on an output voltage of the output terminal.

    Abstract: An alternator has rectifying module groups. The rectifying module groups form a bridge circuit. The rectifying module groups have a load dump protection judgment section for monitoring an output voltage of rectifying module groups. When the monitored output voltage exceeds a first threshold voltage, the load dump protection judgment section provides to a control section an instruction to turn on MOS transistors in a lower arm of the bridge circuit at a time when a predetermined delay time has elapsed. When a second threshold voltage is lower than the first threshold voltage and the monitored output voltage becomes less than the second threshold voltage after the monitored output voltage exceeds the first threshold voltage, the load dump protection judgment section provides to the control circuit an instruction to turn on the MOS transistors in the lower arm after the MOS transistors are turned off during a predetermined time length.

    Abstract: A rotating electric machine system includes a rotating electric machine and an electric power conversion circuit. The rotating electric machine includes N coils connected with each other to define a neutral point therebetween. The electric power conversion circuit includes N high-side switches, N low-side switches, a selector switch, a full-wave driver, a half-wave driver and a drive controller. The full-wave driver performs a full-wave drive process with high potential-side terminals of the low-side switches respectively connected with low potential-side terminals of the high-side switches by the selector switch.     Abstract: An electric rotating machine for a vehicle is equipped with a load dump protector. The load dump protector works to selectively perform a first and a second load dump protection operation to suppress a voltage surge arising from the load dump. When a rate at which an output voltage from the electric rotating machine is determined to be smaller than a given value, the load dump protector waits for stating the first load dump protection operation until the time when a voltage surge arising from changing of switching devices of a rectifier module of the electric rotating machine is expected to be suppressed and then performs the first load dump protection operation.
