    Abstract: A broadband planar array antenna in one aspect of the present disclosure includes: a multi-layer board; a plurality of patch antenna patterns; and a transmission line that connects the plurality of patch antenna patterns in series. The distance from the transmission line to an end of each of the plurality of patch antenna patterns along the polarization direction of a radiated radio wave is shorter with increasing proximity to a feeding point of the transmission line.

    Abstract: An antenna apparatus includes a dielectric substrate, a ground plate, a patch antenna provided with a patch radiating element, and a plurality of EBGs (Electromagnetic Band Gaps). The EBGs are composed of patch-shaped patterns formed on a surface of the substrate and connecting conductors electrically connecting the patch-shaped patterns and the ground plate. Each EBG is arranged to provide an EBG absent region having no EBG on the surface of the substrate. The patch radiating element is arranged within the EBG absent region. The EBG absent region is formed such that distances (absent distances) in a dominant polarized wave direction changes into a plurality of types depending on the position on a vertical patch line, where the distances range, to the boundary of the region, from an arbitrary position on the virtual patch line which is perpendicular to the dominant polarized wave direction of the patch antenna.

    Abstract: An antenna apparatus includes: an antenna that performs either transmission or reception of electromagnetic waves having a predetermined frequency; a case provided with a mounting surface on a predetermined surface, mounting the antenna on the mounting surface; a radome formed of a transmissive material allowing the electromagnetic waves to pass therethrough, mounted on the mounting surface so as to cover the antenna. A groove portion is formed on the mounting surface. The radome has a thickness corresponding to a value of ½ wavelength of the electromagnetic waves propagating therethrough multiplied by m, where m is positive integer number. The groove portion is formed in a direction forming a predetermined angle with respect to a normal direction of an opening surface of the antenna, to have a depth defined as ½ wavelength of the electromagnetic waves propagating in the groove portion multiplied by n, where n is positive integer number.

    Abstract: An antenna device includes a dielectric substrate, a ground plate arranged on a first surface of the dielectric substrate, an antenna part arranged on a second surface of the dielectric substrate, and a reflecting part. The reflecting part is arranged around the antenna part and has a plurality of conductor patches each functioning as a reflecting plate. The plurality of conductor patches form a plurality of blocks aligned along a predetermined block arrangement direction. The plurality of blocks are configured such that phases of reflected waves at an operating frequency are different for each of the blocks and phase differences of reflected waves between adjacent blocks are non-uniformly different for each of the adjacent blocks.

    Abstract: A radar apparatus includes an antenna unit and a cover unit. The cover unit is arranged at a position through which an electromagnetic wave sent and received by the antenna unit passes. The cover unit has, in an order from closer to the antenna unit, a first dielectric layer formed of a dielectric and a second dielectric layer formed of a dielectric having a dielectric constant different from that of the first dielectric layer. The first dielectric layer is configured to have a thickness not more than that for a maximum external transmittance. The external transmittance indicates a transmittance of an electromagnetic wave, which is emitted in a direction of an incidence angle with respect to the first dielectric layer, which is equal to a maximum sensing angle, when the electromagnetic wave is transmitted through the cover unit.

    Abstract: A surface current suppression filter (1) is a bandstop filter that suppresses propagation of a surface current in a predetermined propagation direction on a dielectric substrate (2). The filter (1) is configured such that a plurality of electromagnetic band gap (EBG) rows (10, 20) are arrayed in an array direction. Each EBG row (10, 20) has at least one EBG (11, 21) that is arrayed in a perpendicular direction orthogonal to the array direction. Cutoff characteristics of a first EBG (11) in the first EBG row (10) differs from cutoff characteristics of a second EBG (12) in the second EBG row (20).

    Abstract: An antenna device 1 has a dielectric substrate 2, a patch antenna 5 and electric power absorbing passive elements 21, 24 formed on a surface of the dielectric substrate. Each electric power absorbing passive element 21, 24 is formed between the patch antenna 5 and an edge portion in a polarized wave direction of the dielectric substrate 2. The electric power absorbing passive elements 21, 24 absorb a part of electric power received by the patch antenna 5. This makes it possible to suppress a surface current flowing to the edge portions of the dielectric substrate on a conductive plate (a front-surface conductor plate 3 or a back surface conductor plate 4) on the dielectric substrate.

    Abstract: A radar apparatus that detects an object using radiated waves includes: an antenna surface that includes an element unit that emits a radiated wave for a radar; and a cover member that covers the antenna surface to protect the element unit. The cover member includes an inner refractive surface that is an inner side surface of the cover member on which an undesired wave is incident and is formed into a shape that refracts the undesired wave incident on the inner refractive surface so as to advance towards antenna rear. The antenna rear is a side opposite an antenna front that is a side on which the radiated wave is emitted, with the antenna surface as a boundary. Undesired waves are radiated waves that are emitted outside a range of a predetermined solid angle relative to a normal direction of the antenna surface from a center of the antenna surface from which the radiated waves are emitted.
