Abstract: In a steering control apparatus, a basic assistance torque calculating unit calculates a basic assistance torque. A return control unit calculates a return control amount to assist in returning a steering wheel to a neutral position, as a correction torque to be added to the basic assistance torque. In the return control unit, a target steering speed calculating unit calculates a target steering speed being that is a target value for a steering speed. A return control amount calculating unit calculates the return control amount such that the steering speed follows the target steering speed. A returning state determining unit determines whether the steering wheel is turning or returning. The target steering speed calculating unit gradually increases an absolute value of the target steering speed from an absolute value of the steering speed when the steering wheel is returning.

Abstract: A steering control device (ECU) comprises a base assist unit for generating a basic assist torque and a steering torque correction unit. The steering torque correction unit outputs a corrected steering torque, which is decreasingly corrected so that an absolute value becomes smaller than an absolute value of a steering torque when a viscous load is requested to be applied to a driver by decreasing the assist torque. Abstract: A steering control device controls an assist torque to be outputted by a motor connected to a steering system mechanism generating a steering torque. A response compensation filter performs a filter process compensating for a response in a specific frequency band with respect to a target steering torque generated by a target generation unit, and outputs a response-compensated target steering torque (Ts**). A servo controller calculates an assist torque command value (Ta*) in order for a torque deviation (ΔTs), which is a difference between the steering torque (Ts) and the response-compensated target steering torque (Ts**), to become zero. A transfer characteristic of the response compensation filter is set to suppress a mechanical resonance frequency band where a gain due to resonance of the steering system mechanism becomes large.
