Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards systems and methods for bridging data traffic between an underlay network and an overlay network within a wireless telecommunication network, such as a wireless 5G network. One such method including: providing access to an overlay network that includes virtual routers, wherein the overlay network is built above the underlay network, the underlay network including physical infrastructure that delivers packets; providing a UPFv that acts as an anchor for telephony voice functions; establishing routing protocols to transmit from the UPFv to one or more of the virtual routers; configuring one or more of the virtual routers to bridge an outgoing communication from the UPFv to a public cloud provider; instructing the virtual router to send the outgoing communication through the public cloud provider to the underlay network; and instructing the virtual router to receive an incoming communication from the underlay network through the public cloud provider to the UPFv.

Abstract: Technologies for facilitating testing for a communications network are disclosed. An example method includes maintaining a hierarchy of testing environments that replicate at least part of a network core of the 5G communications network to be consistent with a current declared state of the communications network. The network core of the communications network is established virtually using a cloud computing service and the hierarchy of testing environments are generated via the cloud computing service. The method also includes evaluating network functions for entry into or exiting testing environments in the hierarchy, and tracking and recording data associated with testing of the network functions in individual testing environments.

Abstract: Various arrangements of hybrid cloud cellular network systems are presented herein. A cellular radio access network (RAN) that includes multiple base stations (BSs) can be in communication with a cloud computing platform. Multiple cloud-implemented national data center (NDC) instantiations can be present and executed on the cloud computing platform. Network functions (NFs) are executed within each cloud-implemented NDC instantiation on the cloud computing platform. The system further includes instances of a cellular network database function that updates each other instance of the cellular network database function across the NDC instantiations.

Abstract: Example embodiments are directed towards systems and for a pass-through edge data center (P-EDC) in a 5G wireless telecommunication network having a disaggregated, flexible and virtualized radio access network (RAN) implemented on a cloud computing service provider cloud. The P-EDC may provide a direct circuit fiber connection from the distributed unit (DU) directly to the primary physical data center (e.g., a breakout edge data center (B-EDC)) hosting the centralized unit (CU). In some embodiments, the local data center (LDC), P-EDC, and/or the B-EDC may be co-located or in a single location. The CU 102 may be connected to a regional cloud data center (RDC), which in turn may be connected to a national cloud data center (NDC). The hardware of the P-EDC, the LDC, the cell site 116 and the RU 106 may all be managed, owned and/or controlled by one or more mobile network operators, whereas the hardware of the B-EDC, the RDC and the NDC may all be managed, hosted and/or owned by a cloud computing service provider.
