Abstract: Hydrogensilsesquioxane, free of hydroxyl content, of the general formula (HSiO3/2)n where n is an even integer of 10 or more, is disclosed. The condensed hydrogensilsesquioxane is prepared by condensation of trichloro-, trimethoxy- or triacetoxysilanes in a sulfuric acid medium. A specific example is (HSiO3/2)2 where n has an average value of 20 or more. This material is a resinous polymer which contains small amounts of volatile oligomers and is useful as a protective coating.
