    摘要: A block diagram editor system and method is implemented in a computer workstation that includes a CRT and a mouse, graphics and windowing software, and an external communications interface for test instruments. The computer is programmed for constructing, interconnecting and displaying block diagrams of functional elements on the CRT. From prestored routines for each functional element, the software assembles and executes a program that emulates the functional operations of each element and transfers data from output from each element in turn to an input of a succeeding block, as determined by the block diagram configuration. The block functions include signal generating and analysis functions, and functions for control of various types of test instruments, which can be interactively controlled through the CRT and mouse. The computer converts desired outputs of the instruments into control settings and receives, analyzes and displays data from the instruments. Blocks can also be grouped into macroblocks.

    摘要: Adjustable electronic graticules for measuring waveform distortions are generated from operator inputs indicating a measurement mode and a scale factor. A template of a graticule for the measurement mode in the form of a display list of move and draw instructions is scaled by the scale factor and a measurement value is computed from the scale factor and the instrument units per division setup. The graticule and measurement value are stored as a modified display list. A readout engine interprets the modified display list and produces electrical signals for drawing the graticule and measurement value on a display monitor. The electrical signals are combined with the waveform for display on the display monitor. The operator varies the scale factor until the displayed graticule touches the waveform at a measurement point, and the measurement value is accordingly displayed.

    摘要: A digital dither generator is described which produces a series of discrete analog values which remain constant for each repetition of a signal being digitized. These analog values are summed with the analog input value being digitized. The dither states exhibit two useful characteristics; a bit-reversal scheme in which a sequence of dither values is used to progressively maximize the resolution of the digitizer and a technique of offsetting the values by a known amount to statistically improve digitizer accuracy.
