A second comb-filtering function is provided to detect occasions when the first comb-filtering generates ringing artifacts in response to impulsive noise. Alarm indications are inhibited at times when the artifacts due to impulsive noise are detected. Bandwidths of the filtering functions are adjustable in response to operator input.

    摘要: An electronic article surveillance system includes a signal generator for generating an interrogation signal in an interrogation zone, an antenna which receives a signal present in the interrogation zone, and interference cancelling circuitry for cancelling interference components in the signal received by the antenna. The interference cancelling circuitry includes a hybrid interference component cancelling loop in which a digital interference estimate signal is formed and converted into an analog estimate signal, and the analog estimate signal is subtracted from an input analog signal. The resulting difference signal is processed with a hybrid automatic gain control loop. A digitized signal, formed from the resulting difference signal, is subjected to digital interference cancellation processes in addition to the hybrid interference component cancellation process. Each of the digital interference cancellation processing and the hybrid interference component cancellation loop entails performing a respective polyphase decomposition of a digital input signal, estimating a mean value of each of the resulting subsequences, and combining the estimated mean values to form an interference component estimate signal. An input sample window provided for a comb-filtering stage is adjusted in phase relative to the cycle of the interrogation signal to compensate for changes in phase of the marker signal to be detected.

The nonlinear comb filtering is provided by performing a polyphase decomposition of an input digital signal, nonlinear filtering of the resulting subsequences, and then synthesizing the nonlinear-filtered subsequences. A median filter may be used as the subsequence filtering function. A linear comb filtering function may be provided downstream from the nonlinear comb filter to provide additional attenuation of interference.

    摘要: A radio frequency (RF) metal detector and an electronic article surveillance (EAS) system are disclosed. The RF metal detector in example embodiments transmits an RF signal. A receiver measures the power and phase of the signal as reflected from metallic objects in an interrogation zone. The RF metal detector can be deployed in a combined system that performs multiple functions. For example, the RF metal detector can be integrated with an EAS system that also sends RFID commands and receives RFID responses. In some embodiments the metal detector can discriminate between moving metal objects and stationary metal objects, and/or discriminate between objects in the interrogation zone and objects outside the interrogation zone. An antenna or antennas can be connected in a mono-static or bi-static configuration and the phase and power signals can be either DC-coupled or AC-coupled into the system through a mixer.

In some implementations, a method includes sampling a Radio Frequency (RF) signal from an RFID tag at a plurality of different times as the RFID tag approaches an RFID reader and recedes from the RFID reader.     摘要: The present disclosure includes a system and method for reducing leakage noise in directly sampled radio frequency signals. In some implementations, a Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) reader includes an antenna, an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), a synthesizer module, and a Carrier Noise Reduction (CNR) module. The antenna is configured to receive Radio Frequency (RF) signals and pass the RF signals to a receive path. The ADC is configured to directly sample RF signals in the receive path in accordance with a clock signal and generate a digital signal. The synthesizer module is configured to generate the clock signal and a signal used to upconvert a transmitter signal. The clock signal and the upconversion signal are phase locked. The CNR module is configured to reduce leakage noise in the receive path.
