摘要: A light source enhancing lens assembly 10 has a carrier 20, a light source 30 carried by the carrier 20, a first lens 40 which refracts and diffuses light emitted from the light source 30 and a second lens 70 to defocus and further distribute the light emitting from the first lens 40. The light source 30 is inserted into the first lens 40, so that light from the LED is refracted within a first bore 48 and diffused by a frosted first outer surface 60 of the first lens 40. The first lens 40 inserts into a second bore 40 of the second lens 70. Light from the first lens 40 is further defocused by a series of parallel, spaced apart lens sections 82 located on the second outer surface 78 of the second lens 70.

摘要: A shunt for use in a socket of a string of lights resides in an otherwise typical lamp of a string of lights. The present shunt is a conductive spring held in position by a shunt housing between the two conductive terminals so that both of its curved lateral ends contact the terminals when the bulb holder is removed. When the bulb holder is inserted, a pushrod on the flat central portion of the conductive spring presses the spring down into a well in the shunt housing so that the curved lateral ends of the conductive spring are drawn away from the electrical terminals, thereby allowing current to flow through the Dumet wires to the filament.

摘要: A mechanical shunt for use in a socket of a string of lights resides in an otherwise typical lamp of a string of lights. The present shunt is a coiled spring shunt inserted in part into a hole formed in one of the electrical terminals in the socket so that it is cantilevered toward the opposing electrical terminal. The bulb holder carries a projection or a “tooth” on its bottom corner that is interposed between the first, cantilevered end of the spring terminal and the first electrical terminal when the holder is inserted into the socket. When the bulb and holder are removed, the spring shunt resiliently returns to engagement with the first electrical terminal.

摘要: A light socket is disclosed that has a built-in integrated circuit for rectifying the alternating current received from an electrical outlet and limiting the direct current produced. The light socket is specifically suited for low-current, low-voltage applications such as supplying DC to a string of ornamental lights. The integrated circuit has a diode with a modified cathode that acts as a fuse as it is rectifying the alternating current. The cathode is formed of a plurality of electrically parallel conductors. Excessive current blows out at least some of these conductors in the same way a conventional fuse blows. Various embodiments add other current-limiting elements, elements for producing full wave or near will wave rectification, and for opening the circuit when they detect extraneous currents.

摘要: A magnetic repulsion-based coupler for an electrical connector includes a housing with two passages formed therein, a male terminal having a magnetic top on one of the passages, and a female terminal having a top made of a material attracted to a magnet in the other passage of the housing. Two such housings form an electrical connector for passing electric power from one conductor to another while preserving polarity when the couplers self-align. Self-alignment occurs when their opposing male terminals repel each other and are each attracted to the female terminals of the opposing couplers. Each passage in the housing of a coupler is formed to receive only the male or female terminal.

The lamp holder has bottom that, upon insertion of the holder into the socket, presses down on the central portion of the spring shunt so that its first end is moved out of electrical contact with the first electrical terminal, thereby allowing electrical current to pass through the filament in the bulb.

摘要: An electrical circuit for use with plural, low voltage loads such as a string of Christmas lights is disclosed comprising groups of lights placed electrically in a series circuit but the lights within each group are in parallel, preferably with a semiconductor device in parallel with each group to limit current and voltage in the group. By suitable choice of bulb, group size and number of groups, a light string can be fashioned that that uses about one third the power with much less heat production and without loss of brightness. The semiconductor device can consist essentially of diodes such as two silica diodes on either side of a Zener diode, or a custom bipolar device.

摘要: An apparatus for supplying combustion gas to an internal combustion engine. The apparatus generates negatively-charged molecules of the formula [MO.sub.x ].sup.-, where M is a positive ion, O is oxygen and x is a number at least equal to 3, and means for mixing the molecules with combustion gas and fuel supplied to the engine. Molecules [MO.sub.x ].sup.- are produced in an ion generator that comprises a specially shaped anode and cathode spaced apart from each other in a non-conducting housing. When a substantially constant voltage is applied across the anode and cathode, a plasma forms between and around them that in turn forms a magnetic field around the plasma and the anode. Diatomic oxygen molecules enter the housing and are polarized by the magnetic field and the resulting oxygen ions accelerated toward the plasma. The plasma excites and confines the oxygen ions long enough for them to strike the materials forming the cathode and anode, releasing positive ions of the cathode and anode materials which bind together and form charged molecules [MO.sub.x ].sup.-. Upon exiting the ion generator, the charged molecules are mixed with air or other combustion gas supplied to the engine. The charged molecules produce a denser, oxygen-enriched air charge, resulting in longer and hotter burns, creating more torque and horsepower for the same percentage of throttle.
