摘要: A method for detecting an electrical fault in an electrical installation comprises steps of includes: measuring an alternating electric current flowing through the electrical installation; detecting an electrical fault on the basis of the measured electric current; and tripping the electrical protection device when an electrical fault is identified by the electronic control device. The detection of the fault includes identifying a transition of the measured current from a first level to a second level with a duration lower than a predefined threshold which is lower than or equal to 10% of the nominal period of the alternating electric current, the first level and the second level corresponding to current values of opposite sign but the amplitude of which, in terms of absolute value, is higher than a predefined current threshold equal to the product of the trip threshold of the protection device and a weighting coefficient.

摘要: A method and a device provide protection for a multi-terminal HVDC grid against faults. The method includes measuring a DC displacement voltage having a polarity and a value, determining if a short circuit fault exists by comparing the DC displacement voltage with a threshold displacement voltage and identifying a fault type based on the polarity and the value of the DC displacement voltage. The disclosed device contains a converter having a positive pole and a negative pole, a DC-switch substation, a DC line connecting the converter and the DC-switch substation and a transient fault detector. The transient fault detector contains a positive voltage sensor sensing a positive transient voltage of the positive pole and a negative voltage sensor sensing a negative transient voltage of the negative pole and a control unit which is adapted to derive a DC displacement voltage from the positive and the negative transient voltages.

摘要: In one example, a hybrid circuit interrupter may include a three-coil architecture, first coil circuitry, leakage detection circuitry, and a main processing circuit including a processor. The three-coil architecture may include a coil housing, three coils, and a plurality of coil assembly conductors. The coils may be disposed within the coil housing. The coil assembly conductors may be at least partially disposed within the coil housing. The first coil circuitry may be connected to the first coil and may generate first coil signals. The leakage detection circuitry may be connected to the other two coils and may generate a leakage signal. The processor may receive the first coil signals, receive the leakage signal, determine whether an arc fault exists based on the first coil signals, determine whether a ground fault exists based on the leakage signal, and generate a first trigger signal if a fault is determined to exist.
